1985 NORRIS PIG DINNER
The 1985 Pig Dinner was once
again a fine example of brotherhood
at Phi Gamma Delta. The dinner which
was held in the Union Building was
attended by over 30 graduate brothers.
Many of the younger graduates
returned to DPU on Friday night in
order to socialize with the undergraduates. However, the majority of
the graduates returned on Saturday
afternoon to lunch with all the new
initiates and undergraduates. In the
afternoon the graduates were defeated
handily by the undergraduates in a
game of basketball. Those that didn't
play basketball enjoyed racquetball,
went to the BCA meeting or just took a
walk around the campus.
Evening set in and we had our
"Brotherhood Hour" during which
there was a cash bar to put everyone
in attendance in the right spirits for Pig
Dinner. After the cash bar, it was off
to the Union Building where Tom
Mont, Athletic Director at DePauw
University, gave a humorous speech
that was enjoyed by all. Brother Paul
Qua was the master of ceremonies,
doing a fine job. Paul had each of the
recent graduate brothers tell a humorous Qua story, revealing some of Paul's
more embarrassing college moments.
Paul Qua, Master of Ceremonies, kisses the ceremonial pig.
After dinner, the brothers walked
to Alpha Chi Omega for Brad Santeler's
'86 pinning ceremony with Jennifer
Koffend. After the pinning ceremony,
it was back to the Garn for an initiation
party with the women of Delta Gamma
and a champagne fountain. The evening was quite a success as everyone
enjoyed themselves. We hope to see
everyone back next year with a pledge
brother for this fine day of fraternity
and fun. Remember"Phi Gamma Delta
is not for college days alone."

PRESIDENT'S REPORT
With the initiation of 20 fine young
men and the installation of the new
cabinet, an air of enthusiasm and confidence has formed here at Lambda.
Many ambitious goals have been set
and the undergraduate brothers are
confident in their ability to attain these
goals.
The cabinet officers at FIJI are:
Sean Maj or . . ... . .. . . . .. . . President
Mark Sifferlin . ..... ... . . . Treasurer
Tim Riehle . . .... Recording Secretary
Ted Howard ... . Corresponding Sec.
Ron Dwenger .... .. ..... . . Historian
Tom Leuder, pledge trainer, directed one of the most constructive
pledge programs ever developed by
the chapter. The completion of this
pledgeship was climaxed by the
initiation of twenty of the pledges on
the morning of Pig Dinner. Pig Dinner
was held at the DePauw Union Building on February 16 and over thirty
graduates were in attendance.
Charlies room, the hallowed shrine
of Lambda, has been cleaned out and
transformed into a library. The old
library has been torn down, and the bar
has been moved to give FIJI an increased dance floor and party area.
Lambda will be sponsoring an allcampus alcohol awareness seminar this
semester in hopes to educate ourselves
and the students of DePauw on the
dangers of alcohol abuse. FIJI will also
be sponsoring a six- to eight-year-old
little league baseball team. Phil Stanish
is expected to act as General Manager
for the ball club. Lambda has just recently won its division in IM soccer and
is looking towards the IM championship. Dave Holub, a varsity soccer
player at DePauw, was recently named
to the all conference team and All
Midwest Division III team.
Lambda has recently increased its
role in student government at DePauw.
Sean Major is currently president of
Junior Board. Kevin Chumlea is Student Chairman and in that role he also
acts as Student Body Vice-President.
As the semester comes to an end, many
senior brothers are heading towards
graduate school. P.J. Stanish and Doug
Nemcek will be attending medical
school. Doug was also inducted into
Phi Beta Kappa this year. Nader Sharifi
will be attending dental school. Dave
Schmitz will be selling used cars on the
southside of Indianapolis.
Lambda is doing a lot of things right
at DePauw. By no means are we perfect,
but a foundati0n has been laid-to insure
future successes. If you as a graduate
brother have any comments or words
of wisdom, please direct them to myself
or to the chapter.
Fraternally,
Sean Major

WALL OF FAME UPDATE
Since the last Tiger Fiji, Lambda FIJis
have been working diligently on the
Wall of Fame. As of now the wall is
approximately half completed, but
only a quarter funded. We have pictures of all the Lambda founders, the
old houses, FIJI Isles, Little 500 Champs,
and more. Also, all the awards that we
have won over the years as well as our
plaques for individual effort have been
mounted. The third part of the wall that
has yet to be erected, is for the composites. We feel that this is the most
important aspect of the wall as it allows
all members to be a part of the Wall of
Fame and lets us all recollect old pledge
brothers and brothers.
We would like to have this project
completed by the end of this semester.
To do this we need help in three areas:
1) money, we need to offset the cost of
framing, pictures, and hardware; 2)
composites, copies of your small composites can be made with the original
being returned to you; 3) viewers, come
and see the wall near the end of the
year (Little 500 - April 20, Fiji Isle May 4) .
"We will have the wall complete by
this time with what we have. The
sooner you send us your old composites, the better chance your brothers have of reminiscing through that
school year.
"The composites that we have are:
1964, 65, 66, 67, 69, 72, 82, 83, 84, 85.
Please remember that your copy will
be returned if requested.
