Rush 1985
Recent Changes Aid Rush Effort
Rush chairmen Andy Detherage and Mark Senese have set
ambitious goals for Zeta Chapter
this year. Some recent changes in
our rush program should help our
brothers attain the results to
which we're committed.
The biggest change is in the
development of our rush team.

Freshman Project Duel Effort
Fiji freshmen are continuing the tradition of service at Phi Gam
ma Delta, both in the community and at the chapter's house.
The Fiji pledge class of 1984-85 earned more than $500 this fall
in its first philanthropic project of the year. The freshmen set up ex
hibits for an antique show that was held at Bloomington South High
School in Bloomington, Indiana.
Their day-long efforts resulted in a $500 check that was donated to
the Multiple Sclerosis Society. The enterprising pledges earned money
through tips from antique show vendors, community contributions
and a major donation by the Bloomington Historical Society.
The new initiates expanded their dedication to service by improv
ing our chapter's house as well. The freshmen wielded paint brushes
for days as they worked to spruce up the house's hallways, dining
room, stairwells, bathrooms and the parking lot's basketball goals.
Their timely touchups helped our house present a good appearance
during rush, and the chapter sincerely appreciates their efforts.
The 1984-85 pledge class is an outstanding example of Fiji spirit;
its members were recently initiated into the brotherhood of Phi Gam
ma Delta, and each one is a welcome addition to our fold. Kudos
go to our new brothers, for both their attitudes and accomplishments.

vestibule would be added.
Other benefits to building this addition would include adding more
space to the Chapter Room at its current location and constructing
a one-story library where the outdoor patio currently exists.
The study's second recommendation is to build a grand open stair
way between the first and ground floors where the Fiji Room now
exists.
The third recommendation involves a room that is dear to every
Fiji's heart; the kitchen. The existing kitchen would be converted
into more room for the dining area, while a new kitchen would be
built in space that's currently open at the north end of the ground floor.
The plan also includes an addition to the west end of Beechwood
over the current driveway. Minor remodeling chores throughout the
house would also be incorporated into the plan as the need arises.
We are enthusiastic about the proposed changes. But the hard part
is just beginning. Funds have to be raised before construction can
begin. To offer your suggestions, please call the chapter's house.

at Indiana University; our num

is to continue attracting the type

To further that aim, rush chair
men Detherage and Senese have
set two goals; to draw a pledge
class of between 30 to 35 mem
bers to replace this year's gradu
ating class and to have all bid
cards signed by June 1.
Our first two rush weekends
have gotten us off to a good start
in reaching these goals. Our third
rush weekend will include some
thing special; Michael Gordon,
dean of students at lU, will be ad
dressing rushees during the
weekend's activities.
With all of our efforts, Zeta
Chapter is looking forward to yet
another successful rush!
