BEECHWOOD EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION, INC.
"Making the future happen today"
Some interesting facts about your foundation, established about
eight years ago by just a few lU Fiji graduates:
•
Approximately 200 Zeta brothers have made contributions
to Beechwood Educational Foundation (BEF) during this
brief period; over 50 non-members have made donations;
several corporations have matched contributions.
•
Each year the number of contributors and the total
amount has increased; the average amount of individual
gifts continues to increase each year.
•
BEF is a 501 C-3 foundation making available the most
favorable tax deductible opportunity for gifts from
U.S. citizens. Unfortunately, contributions received
from outside of the U.S. do not enjoy the same tax
benefit.
•
Bequests to BEF will provide the foundation with long
term stability, increasing opportunities for greater
support of present and new projects.
•
Utilization of the Hoosier Fiji for fund-raising
purposes for BEF will be used regularly in future
years. The Foundation hopes this cost-effective method
of fund raising is acceptable to all members and their
families.
•
In addition to the insert, all past supporters of BEF
will receive a more complete report about Foundation
activities and contributors.
•
BEF has made scholarship grants to students, completely
paid for the John E. Scott Memorial Library, purchased
computer equipment for the library, loaned the House
Corporation $30,000 for the current remodeling project
and has provided other forms of scholarship, leadership
development, educational materials and charitable
activities assistance.
The tax deductible financial support received from active
members, graduate members, family and friends of members and
corporate matching gifts are individually and collectively
essential for Beechwood Educational Foundation to continue
growing and providing even greater support.
Your contributions should be designated for the Fiji Mom's
Challenge Fund, the Little 500 Scholarship Fund, a specific
memorial fund or unrestricted. Complete and detach the form on
the reverse side of this insert and return it with your check in
the enclosed self-addressed envelope.
\r\nPage 4
THE HOOSIER FIJI
Winter 1989-90
Several contributors to the John E. Scott Memorial Library Fund
have asked if additional funds are needed. The library has been
completely funded. However, the computer equipment donated to
the library has been partially funded"with unrestricted gifts
normally directed toward scholarships. Additional library gifts
will be used to fund the computer equipment and future needs of
the library.
Beechwood Educational Foundation, Inc. now serves as the single
fund-raising organization for the Zeta Chapter. All activities
supported by BEF require IRS tax deductibility.
Many have asked if funds for the renovation project can be
contributed directly through the Foundation. The answer is an
unqualified "No". However, just as the $30,000 was loaned to
the House Corporation as an investment of BEF, the loan must be
paid back with interest to BEF.
The IRS limits the percent of a
Foundation's investment portfolio that may be invested in this
fashion.
Additional questions regarding the Foundation and the projects
now being supported by your gifts should be directed to BEF, 286
Corunna Avenue, Fairlawn, Ohio 44313.
The day-to-day activities
of BEF are handled from the Fairlawn address while BEF is
registered in Indianapolis, Indiana.
