"A New Outlook on Studying"
Over Christmas break, the old weight room
was converted into a study room. Not just
another room, but one that was made possible
by the Fiji Mom's Club. The room contains
new walls and built in desks for convenience.
It also has a new ceiling with flourescent
lighting and new carpeting.
The study room was not simply a one time
project, but only the beginning of many
wonderful things to come. To award brothers
who give at least $25, one's name will be
engraved into a plaque to be hung in the new
room. For brothers wanting to give $100 or
more, one's name will be boldly printed on a tile
that will be displayed on one of the walls in
"the row of tiles" where it will easily be seen
by anyone who enters the room.
"New Initiates at XO"
On January 31,18 young men joined us at
at Sigma Omicron. The Iota Pledge Class has
a strong sense of persistence and dedication to
make Fiji #1! They achieved over 1,300
conimunity service hours by showing that
Greeks care about the community.
hosts at the house.
Tickets are on sale for $45 payable to Phi
Gamma Delta (this includes your guest's ticket
also). Dinner will start at 6:00. Please register
at the house and sign our guest book.
'Persistence and determination alone are
omnipotent. The slogan'Press On' has solved
and always will solve the problems of the
human race."
-Calvin Coolidge,President of the U.S.
Many of the members of the pledge class not
only have high Fiji loyalty to the house, but also
to each organization they belong. Some of their
activities include: Oklahoma Intercollegiate
Legislature, SGA Senators, Mom's Weekend
Steering, Agricultural Student Council, OSU
Flying Aggies, SGA Executive Directorof
Special Events, JuniorInterfratemity Council,
Baptist Student Union Freshman Council, Greek
Week, & Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
\r\n"Words of Wisdom from Our Purple Legionnaire"
Brothers,
Once again,we are uponPig Dinnerandcelebration of PhiGammaDelta'spast, present, and future.
It is the graduates turn to reaffirmthe motto: "PHIGAMMA DELTA- NOT FOR COLLEGE DAYS
ALONE." This can be accomplished by coming to Stillwater February 22 to relive the days of past
brothers. I, for one, enjoy hearing the stories of pledgeship and the antics of brothers that lived in the
house before me. It certainly makes me feel better to know other people did more bizarre things than
me.
This is the 30th anniversaryof Sigma Omicron and I would like to see at least 100 graduate brothers
in attendance. We will be giving out Silver Owl Awards for those brothers who have been membersfor
25 years. (Now wecan seewho theold-timers really are). Wewillalsobe hearing from thenew BCA
and Housing Corporation and find out what plans have been made for SigmaOmicron.
I challegeeaclrof youto call one pledgebrotheror memberand invite him to come with you this
year. It willbe a great time to reminence andto give each othera hardtime about the stupid stuffthey
did while in the house. Perhaps we can get a new tradition started and come up with a award for the best
graduate story.
Please come and show your support for the undergraduates, this may be the only time they get to
meet a great graduatebrother. Just pick up the phoneanddial 372-1699 and makeyour reservationwith
Jeff Jones or Jeff Turner.
Fraternally,
Geoff Grabow

"On a Roie in Stiiiwater"
Sigma Omicron at Oklahoma State University is on a role! Not only does Nationals continually
commend us, but so does the university and faculty. We have become the model house for much of the
Greeksystem simplybecauseof our obvious successin all areasof the GreekSystem. Fiji's are currently
sixth in grades and are seen by students as a "an outstanding group of guys". The pride and selfconfidence levels have completely changed over the pa st two years since I pledged. We are more unified
than ever and have a common goal in mind~"To be #1 at OSU!"
I am so excited about the future and what's in store for Sigma Omicron. Although I have highlighted
only a few achievements of our success, I hope to see you on February 22 so I can tell you even more
about our search for excellence!
Sincerely,
Kip Cronkhite, Graduate Relations Chairman

"Enthusiastic About Our Future"
Dear Brothers,
Once again, the brothers at Oklahoma State have continued to achieve success. Through our hard
work we have accomplished goals which were dreams just a few years ago.
Last summer we had the best rush in recent history. Our Rush Chairmen, Scott Bogie and Todd Allen,
along with the help of countless brothers, signed 25 pledges. On January 31 we initiated 18 of the men,
bringing our active membership to 64. With all but four brothers retmning next fall, our spring and
summer rush should bring the chapter to 90 strong!
But Sigma Omicron is not just growing, we're getting better. This fall our chapter ranked 6th out of
24 fraternities and were above the all men's average. Sports have also improved recently. Our volleyball
team placed 3rd on campus by defeating the Sigma Nu's. Victories such as this these have made Phi
Gamma Delta a threat to all fraternities.
In addition to all these accomplishments, individuals in the chapter have been gaining positions on
campus. Currently Ryan Welter is the SGA Yice-President and will hopefully be replaced this year by
Russ Knight. Last semester two brothers were elected to the Student Senate and three brothers were
elected to the SGA Executive Branch. Fiji's also hold many other prestigious positions on the OSU
campus.
Our success is great! But it would not have been realized if not for the help of several graduate
brothers. This year GeoffGrabow, our Purple Legionnaire, established a Board ofChapter Advisors with
Bob Murphy, Jr. serving as president. Also, Jim Thomas became the new president of the House
Corporation and has been a great asset along with all our new BCA members. This truely exemplifies
the slogan "Not for College Days Alone".
Next year we hope to continue reaching new heights, with the help of brothers both young and old.
Fraternally,
Jason Turner
Chapter President
