-.pring 1994
-No fancy graphics, no high tech wizardry, just the first graduate
newsletter in what will be a biannual edition.
Jim Tuman: Man on a Mission
Jim Tuman (Michigan State'64) speaks to over 150,000 students a year.
He has received invitations to meet with 14 world leaders. He has
appeared on the ABC, NBC, and CBS national news. The Today Show, and the
Oprah Winfrey Show. He has been featured in Newsweek, USA Today,
Business I4^eei; and The Washington Post And now, thanks to the efforts
of Brother John Strmac, Bowling Green State University. The program in
the spring was a major coup by the Beta Gamma Chapter, not only for the
prestige it brought to the chapter, but for the personal attention shown by
Brother Tuman to the chapter. Brother Tuman spoke in his program about
the values of living for today, and reaching out to people now before it's to
late. The general consensus among the chapter that it was one of the most
motivating speeches the chapter had ever heard. For the next few days.
Brother Tuman spoke to the cabinet members about the direction of the
chapter, and helped every member of the chapter set individual goals.
Experiencing Jim Tuman's message and optimism was truly and eye opener
and a call to reach one's potential.
Four More Join Graduate Ranks
The following brothers graduated in the Spring of 1994;
Joe Casteliano is a manager in training for Bob Evans Restaurant. Joe
auditioned for a job as a beer distributor. When informed by the
interviewer that the company frowned on drinking on the job, Joe replied,
"I don't drink, I'm and athlete." And he has the rippling stomach muscles to
prove it.
Dennis Blue is working as a fry chef at Chil i's. We can almost taste the
big cash donations coming in. While he continues to search for his career,
he can be found making extra money on the side visiting Frenchy's place of
employment.
That's because Jason St. Pierre is currently working at a sperm bank.
He and his wife-to-be Holly have been seen checking on the prime samples.
On the subject, he would l ike T.J.(or J.T.) Schmenk to give him a cal l.
Jay Rottinghaus is working in banking or some obscene job l ike that.
Before graduating, Jay was working on hie fourth relationship of at least
two years in length since coming to Bowling Green. Jay graduated in just
under five years, so you figure out the math.
\r\nDueling Casteilano's!
This fail the Beta Gamma Chapter hosted it's first philanthropy in three
years with the Phi Gamm Sumo Slam. The Philanthropy, in.which
combatants donned Sumo suits and attacked each other, served to benefit
the Candle Lighters of Northwest Ohio. The Candle Lighters are an
organization that gives money to children who are suffering from cancer.
Wally Lanci, basically working without any guidelines to follow, oversaw
the running of the philanthropy, which raised $700. With major sponsors
such as Wal-Mart and Subway, and the overwhelmingly positive response
from all those in attendance, our goal is to double the money raised next
year. If you know of any potential sponsors, please contact Wally Lanci
through the house at 372-8331.
Did You Know?
Just a reminder to those coming back for Pig Dinner. Rules have changed
on campus and there is no drinking in the fraternity house's public areas.
Also, you can't pass out at the fraternity house, our loving unit director
has decided she would rather have someone drive home drunk, than sleep
safely overnight at the house. Don't test her on this, she has already sent
us on probation for the smallest of infractions A bright spot in the
house has been our excellent accounts receivable, down to a few hundred
dollars. According to our treasurer (Brian Sovik), all members are paid up
except for three members who have promised to pay up before spring
break...lf you have any ideas that you feel would improve graduate
relations, contact, Craig Johnston, he's your Corresponding Secretary and
