Theta Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta - The University of Alabama
PRESIDENT'S ADDRESS
During the 1993 academic year, Theta was presented
with some hardships and new chaiienges. Our biggest
hardship was being placed on probation by the nation
al fraternity for a hazing violation which occurred last
year. Because of this, Theta was also placed on social
probation by the University. However, under the leader
ship of last year's council,Theta was able to be taken off
social probation by the University this semester, in
response to probation with the national fraternity, Theta
published a new pledge education program which
complied with the national pledge education program.
in addition to this, Theta implemented a new post
initiation program to be completed by ail new initiates.
This pragram will further help new initiates and the rest of
the chapter better understand the purpose and
importance of campus involvement to the new pledge
class in an effort to keep our great traditions and
influence at the University.
As we remember the past, Theta is always looking to
the future. With the help of our great Rush Chairmen, we
hope to pledge a larger pledge class this year than we
have in the past. Also, Theta is working towards applying
for the Condon Cup which is the award given to the
most improved chapter by the national fraternity. We will
certainly let everyone know how it turned out.
As you can see, Theta is breaking new ground at the
University of Alabama. We are striving to keep the great
traditions that the graduate brothers have established
and also to create some new traditions of our own, so
that Phi Gamma Delta will remain the best ohapter at
the University of Alabama.

meaning of what it means to be a brother in Phi Gamma
Delta. Theta also sponsored many seminars which
addressed the problems college students face today
such as date rape and drug and alcohol awareness. For
sponsoring these events, i am proud to announce that
Theta received a $20 discount per member off our yearly
insurance dues with nationals.

\r\nTraditions
The Theta Chapter has a rich history, but we feel that
some traditions have not been properly passed down.
The Theta traditions ore one of the pillars of this great
fraternity. Active members ask that if you, the alumni

elevate our chapter, please send to:

Without the support the Theta Chapter has seen from

Recently, Phi Gam had to make a few changes to

TREASURER'S REPORT
Maintaining the Chapter House and promoting the
chapter's overall well being involves large amounts of
money. This money goes toward general expenses such
as utilities, but also towards any repairs the house may
need. This year we have spent up to $10,000 in repairs for
roofing, plumbing, air conditioning and a new hot water
heater. The House Corporation's budget takes into
account these types of occurrences, but is close to
being unable to absorb this large number of repairs and
maintenance expenses.
Theta Chapter is planning on an allocation of more
money to the House Corporation to make up the deficit.
This however, will entail cutting into other budgets such
as social, philanthropy, and more importantly. Rush.
Rush is the single most important activity we can
undertake to assume continuous success of our Chapter.
With a Rush list consisting of over 100 names,we will need
as much money as possible to help our chairmen in a
successful Rush.
