House Corporations Treasurer's Report
By Taylor McElroy ‘95
Over the last year the
House Corporation has
expensed over $150,000
in renovations to the
house. The good news is
that with these renovations our house is in
much better shape than it
was previously. In addition, a large part of these
renovations were funded
by alumni contributions
of over $50,000 (please
see the included list of
these alumni). We are
very grateful for these
alumni and their contributions, without which
the renovations would not
have been possible. The
bad news is that the remainder of the renovations have been funded
through a loan from NBC

Lee Boy’s Legacy by Baker Crow Class of ‘78
Halloween is a time for family, friends, laughter and
fun…mixed in with a little
mischief. All of these were
very important to Brother
Joseph Lee Griffin, affectionately known as Lee Boy.
How ironic it is that God
chose this night to end Lee
Boy’s courageous two year
battle with cancer. For all of
you that enjoyed the Theta
Chapter during the 70’s you
understand the analogy.
Lee Boy enjoyed life…and
the world enjoyed Lee Boy.
He was a breath of fresh air in
an otherwise halitosis world.
His gift to all that knew him
was laughter. His one-liners
are legendary. If you ever
played golf with him you
were blessed with the tip toe,
over the top, retro shank.
Shin guards, and side splitting
laughter, were a must. His
distinctive gait and voice inflection were truly unique to
him. They contributed to the
mystique that was Lee Boy.
What he treasured most in life
were family and friends…and
fraternity.
(Please read more about Lee
Boy’s legacy on page 4)
Treasurer's Report Continued
As is stands today, we have
several other renovations that
need to be made and outstanding debt of $163,000
(includes a $65,000 prior
mortgage we were able to
consolidate and refinance at a
much lower interest rate).
Our chapter has historically
shown strong alumni support
through financial contribu-
tions and active leadership.
Please help continue this support by sending a contribution

Lee Boy’s Legacy Continued
If you have any information that you think
the chapter needs to know please contact
the chapter through mail or by phone. If
you would like to contribute to the fall’s
Theta Fiji send your contribution to the
house’s PO Box.
Fraternity is what I want to address with you. Phi Gamma Delta
was extremely important to him.
His brothers were brothers. His
nephew is the current President,
and his son, Joe, is the current
Corresponding Secretary. He was
a trustee of the Theta Chapter,
and he spent precious free time
during his treatment for cancer
improving chapter leadership,
pledge training, rush and the facilities. His commitment and love
of the Theta Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta was unwavering.
In honor of Lee Boy, the Chapter
plans to dedicate a new wall to
him that will be built around the
patio. We are asking for your
help in raising the funds to complete the wall.
Please send a check payable to:
Phi Gamma Delta
P. O. Box 11039

What a wonderful way to thank Lee
Boy for the laughter that he brought
to life, and his commitment to the
Theta Chapter.
