plications that were not possible before.

Chapter Holds 51st Annual Norris Pig Dinner
The 51st Lambda Tau Norris Pig Dinner was held at Lubbock Country Club on April 23, 2005.
The day included a golf outing at the Rawls Course a Graduate Chapter meeting prior to the dinner that
evening. Brother Alton R. Griffin, '51, former Purple Legionnaire and Coulter Cup recipient, delivered
the main address. A casino night was conducted by Brothers Chip and David Woody followed the din
ner. Brothers initiated in 1955 were presented with Golden Owl certificated and pins in honor of their
fifty years of membership.
Undergraduate awards selected by the undergraduate Brothers were presented at the dinner and
are listed on Page 4. The undergraduates also selected Brother Barry Orr,'78, as the recipient of the
Tom G. Parks Outstanding Graduate Award. Brother Parks' grandson. Spring 2005 Pledge Cole Parks,
assisted Brother David Pool in presenting the award. It was accepted by Brother Orr's son, Alex Orr,
'07, since Barry was out of town and unable to attend Pig Dinner.

The Purple Legionnaires of the Lambda Tau Chapter selected Matt Sherwood to receive the
Purple Heart Award. Other nominees for that award were Brother Mitchell Moses,'05 and Brother John
Allen,'05. Brother Sherwood Graduated this Spring with a cumulative grade point average exceeding
3.8. During his years at Tech, Matt served as Corresponding Secretary of Lambda Tau and held a variety
of other positions in the Chapter including Intramural Chairman this past year.

On April 15, 2005, Brother David A. Reed,'70,
was honored by the Rawls College of Business
Administration with the Distinguished Alumni
Award. Brother Reed retired in 2000 as Senior
Vice Chair of Ernst and Young LLP, one of the
world's largest professional service firms. He has
significant experience in many vertieal industries,
with primary focus on technology-driven compa
nies, plus exceptional strategic roles with venture
capital, private equity and investment banking
organizations. He is currently Managing Partner

for his family's investment fund. Causeway Capi
tal Partners, LP. Additionally, he is co-founder of
ANSR Source, Inc., a global information technol
ogy and business process outsourcing company
with India-based service delivery. Other endeav
ors include public and private board service and
advisory consulting. Brother Reed received his
Mitchell Moses Nominated for Wilkinson Award
Mitchell J. Moses, '05, has been nominated by Tim Glowa, Section Chief for Lambda Tau,
to receive the 2004-2005 Cecil J. Wilkinson Award, given to the undergraduate Brother selected as
the most outstanding undergraduate in Phi Gamma Delta. The result of the winner of this prestigious
award will not be notified until later in the summer; however. Brother Moses is certainly a worthy
candidate. Mitchell was named Outstanding Greek Man of the Year by the Texas Tech University
Interfratemity Council his freshman, sophomore and junior years. He was President of the Freshman
Council and on the Tech Student Senate in his following years. In his senior year, Mitchell was
elected President of the Texas Tech Student Body. He was elected President of his pledge class,
served his initiation semester as Chairman of the Campus Involvement Committee, as Chapter Treas
urer his sophomore year and as Chapter President his junior year. He also served the Chapter as Rush
Chairman in the Fall of 2004. He attended two Fiji Aeademies in St. Louis and the Atlanta Ekklesia
during his college eareer. Mitchell worked in a youth eamp as a counselor during his summer vaca
tions. He played several intramural sports for the chapter and also maintained honor grades. He has
been accepted to Graduate school beginning August 2005 and plans to enter law sehool. George Nel
son, current Purple Legionnaire of Lambda Tau said of Brother Moses, "In all my years as Purple
Legionnaire at Texas Tech, I have not had the occasion to meet and work with a more outstanding
individual."

from a baby shower in Clay's hometown of Slaton, Texas, but little Clay decided to be a Native
Texan rather than a Coloradian, the boy is already showing good judgment. Jeff Owen,'99, married
Jamie Johnston and has completed his medical education at Texas Tech medical school. Stephen K.

have an opportunity to. The bricks cost $500, and the money goes toward the White Owl
Housing Foundation, Inc., our house corporation, that helps to keep the FIJI lodge one of
the handsomest on Greek Circle. Payment plans are available.
If you have already purchased a brick, consider purchasing another as a memorial in re
membrance of a lost Pledge Brother. Your brick will be permanently installed in the patio
area of the lodge, inscribed with your name and graduation year. By purchasing a brick, you
help to insure that the housing corporation always has sufficient funds to pay taxes and in
surance as well as to make repairs and major upgrades to our prized lodge. Be sure to
provide the name and graduation year that you wish to have engraved on your brick.
