In the near future, Pi Mu has a few
ideas to freshen up the house. We
hope to have the house completely
re-painted before our next group of
freshmen arrive. We have also begun
planning to redesign and improve
the sleeping porch. Some of the new
ideas include new paint and privacy
curtains. House Core has also in

Recruitment
After five years of struggling, the

higher and consistent with rushing

More Fiji, Less Self
This year Pi Mu Chapter com
pleted two philanthropies and a can
drive. We held a haunted house in
October in which we had multiple
rooms decorated. The philanthropy
grossed more than $450, which was
donated to the American Red Cross.
In early April, Alpha Gamma Del
ta was the best competing sorority in
Islander. We also held a can drive, in
which we collected 13 garbage bags
full of crushed cans.
This year we have also introduced
a new idea for serving the commu

C. Douglas Shaul '60 is retired from
the US Army and from a career in
rehab counseling. He enjoys reading,
fishing and traveling. Doug is a mem
ber of Battle Ground United Methodist
Church and, in his spare time, volun
teers at the Children's Home Society.
Doug and his wife, Jan (WSU), a
retired teacher, are the parents of two
children, Pete (deceased) and Steve.

David B. Menig '64 is chief of staff
for military schools in the Pacific. In
his spare time, he enjoys golf.
Dave writes, "I live in Okinawa,
Japan, on Kadena Air Base. Write if
you're interested in teaching in the
Pacific or student teaching."
He adds of his Fiji experience, "It
taught me to get along with people
from all walks oflife."

Rawlee J. Ridgeway '61 is a propul
sion manager, at Boeing. He retired
once after working there for 40 years,
but decided to return two years ago.
Rawlee and his wife, Jill (Whitman
KA0), have four sons, six grandsons
and one granddaughter.
He sends this note to brothers, "I'm
still racing my Porsche and working
on the 787—doing some traveling and
boating."

Charles E. Muuson '51, a charter
member of Pi Mu Chapter, is a retired
consulting engineer. He and his wife,
Carroll(WSC), have three grown chil
dren: Michael, Vicki and Nancy.
Chuck updates brothers, "We hcn'e
six grandchildren and two great
grandchildren. We gave Harlan Mayer
an obitfor Robert I. Harris, my room
mate at WSC. Also note that friend
Peter S. Bidlake is on your 'lost' list.
He passed away also."
In his spare time. Chuck enjoys
carpentry and guns. He is also a tenor
and historian for the Wenatchee Apollo
Club, a 50-man vocal group that raises
funds for nonprofit groups. In the past,
he was a member of the Wenatchee
Police Reserves and Washington State
Law Enforcement organizations.

"In 2004 my wife of 39 years, Linda,
passed awayfrom cancer. I was mar
ried to Kathy Adair on October 29,
2005. Her parents and brother all
graduatedfrom WSU, cdthoiigh Kathy
was raised in California and graduat
College Hill Neighborhood Study
edfrom Sacramento Stale University.
After many years of abuse and the frustration of college students, a study
was completed to learn about positive change in the College Hill neighbor
hood. A few ideas that were brought up include creating better parking for
residents, acquiring more property for temporary student housing, cleaning
up trash, etc.
I am a retired real estate broker and
The concern of College Hill residents is that no WSU police patrol the area
nor do they respond to calls in the area, which makes it a very uncontrolled
atmosphere. Unfortunately, there is no target date for which the city has de
cided to plan on taking action in hopes of encouraging a safer and healthier

More Pi Mu Graduates Write In
Clifford O. Ridgway '72 is a vice
president and business banker at
Sterling Savings Bank. He and his
wife, Debbie (WSU), who works in
aerospace training, have two grown
children, Jeremy and Ryan.
Clifford is a member of the Rotary
Club of Kent as well as a board mem
ber for the Kent Chamber of Com
merce. In his spare time, he enjoys
motorcycle riding and fishing.
Clifford writes, "Lately, our extra
time is spent at our second home on
Whidbey Island or traveling.
"We have gone to Ethiopia on a Ro
tary Polio Plus project and Australia
to see aformer exchange student.
"In May 2006, Debbie, Ryan(WSU
'04) and I went to Ecuador to visit
a former Rotary Exchange student.
While there, Itook Ryan, who has a BS
in biology, to The Galapagos Island as
a belated graduation present."

Ron Rawson '52 sends greetings to

Ron's wife, Ginny, was a profes
sional figure skater and teacher for over
40 years. She was also a performer in
Ice Capades for five years.
