PRESIDENT’S ADDRESS
“Once again,
Gamma Tau
has excelled on
campus,
winning the
third place
Dean Dull
Award for best
overall
fraternity on
campus.”
Brothers,
As we close out the
fall semester, Gamma Tau
is able to celebrate the
achievements of the past
year. Once again, Gamma
Tau has excelled on campus, winning the third
place Dean Dull Award for
best overall fraternity on
campus. We received a
third place award from the
Interfraternity Council for
philanthropy, stemming
from our successful Run
for the Kids last fall. Continuing our successful legacy, we also took home the
IFC Intramural Trophy.
I thank all graduate brothers who were able
to attend our Homecoming. It was great to see
many graduates and their
families catch up with each
other while enjoying
drinks, breakfast, and
lunch. The chapter
worked hard on its Wreck
this year, garnering the
second place prize.
We are stepping
up the planning phase for
a house renovation. A
graduate committee is being put in place to handle
major decisions regarding
the planning process.
Graduates are encouraged
to contact Alex Demestihas
(05’) for further information.
Our rush chairs,
Jordan Jones (’11) and
Dan Mantenfel (’11), are
already hard at work as we
begin to prepare for spring
rush. We pledged 19 men
this fall, and are looking
forward to a successful
spring rush. If you have
any potential rush contacts, please contact
Patrick Sugar at
psugar@gtfiji.com.
This fall, we also
had our annual Fiji Run
for the Kids. It is never too
late to donate! Please contact our coordinator Jordan Kramer
(jordan.gene.kramer@gma
il.com).
The Pig Dinner
date has been tentatively
set for March 28, 2009. As
always, we welcome graduates to stop by the house
for tailgating, or even just
a lunch during the work
week.
Fraternally,
John Bowen ‘09

WELCOME PLEDGES
After a great
summer with many
brothers studying
abroad and working
at internships, the
house was able to
reconvene and provide an amazing fall
rush.
A summer
full of activities ranging from Braves
games to whitewater
rafting was capped
off by a remarkable
fall rush consisting of
Bellicinos, Zaxby's,
BBQ, Live Music
from Graduate
Brothers Kirk
Poucher and Will
Norman, and Chef
Buran's Fajitas.
The brothers
of FIJI, along with
the help of many
graduate recommendations and support, managed to attain one of the
most successful pledge
classes on campus. These
pledges have since been
transitioned into our
pledge program where
they have proven to be a
very strong group that is
continuing to grow.
We would like to
thank you for all of your
support throughout rush
and hope to see you
around the house soon. If
you have any questions
concerning this fall's rush,
feel free to email either
Patrick Sugar at
psugar@gtfiji.com or Chris
Dreher at
cdreher@gtfiji.com or if
you have any contacts for
upcoming spring or fall
rush please contact our
new Rush Chairmen Dan
Mantenfel dmantenfel@gmail.com or
Jordan Jones jordan_h_jones@gatech.edu.
Thank you for
your continued help in
making the Gamma Tau
Chapter of Phi Gamma
Delta one of the best in the
nation.

HOUSE RENOVATION UPDATE
“With this
milestone
complete, we
are now left to
begin the
decisionmaking process
on exactly what
we would like to
see our house
grow to.”
Our architectural
consulting firm, Richard
Wittshiebe Hand Architects, has completed our
house assessment and provided us with significant
information and data to
consider. With this milestone complete, we are
now left to begin the decision making process on
exactly what we would like
to see our house grow to.
While the house is
largely able to take on a
significant renovation
project, we must also con-
sider the potential of new
construction. A large part
of this decision process
will depend on our ability
to fundraise.
From this point
forward, we are in a position that requires more
manpower to get us to the
next step. Please be on the
lookout for an individual
letter being delivered to
you outlining in much
greater detail the results
from the architectural assessment and the next
steps in line for us to pro-
ceed.
In the meantime,
if you have any questions
or comments regarding the
house renovation project,
please feel free to contact
me at:
alex.demestihas@gmail.co
m.
I’m looking forward to
continuing this exciting
process!
HOMECOMING 2008
Before the game, a
lunch was also served for
those families that remained
to tailgate at the house. The
undergraduates received a
Top Ten ranking for homecoming events throughout the
week.
Homecoming was a
success at Gamma Tau despite
the Georgia Tech football team
suffering a devastating loss to
Virginia.
Many graduates came
by the house to enjoy the homecoming parade and tailgate.
The Wreck was the highlight
of the morning with Gamma Tau
placing second. It was powered by the
rear wheel of a motorcycle spinning a
flywheel which spun a vertical driveshaft. After the parade, a breakfast
and lunch buffet was provided for all
who attended.
