Tau Iota Foundation Report
Brothers,
In the past three years Tau Iota Foundation (Housing Corporation) has been functioning in a very limited capacity. With the rebirth of Iota
Sigma, we believe it‟s time to bring the House Corporation back to a functioning body, consistent with its charter, in anticipation of providing
housing down the road for the chapter.
On Sunday, October 16th (the day after Homecoming), Tau Iota will be having its first full graduate meeting in over three years. At this
meeting we will:
1) Elect a new board consisting of seven members. Three members will have a three year term and four will have a two year term. We will
also ask the undergraduate chapter to assign two members to sit on the board as well. The new board will then elect officers: President,
Treasurer and Secretary.
2) Discuss a vision and timeline for objectives, including but not limited to: Fundraising, Graduate Relations and Brick and Mortar.
The meeting will be held at the Hulman Memorial Student Union (Room 416) at 10:00 am.
If you wish to self nominate or nominate another graduate to be on the House Corporation board, please email me at meyerbp@comcast.net.
You can also nominate the day of the meeting.
Serving on the board will consist of bi-monthly conference calls and two or three meetings per year held in person (generally around
Homecoming, Pig Dinner and one in the summer).
I look forward to this exciting time in the history of Iota Sigma and Tau Iota. I encourage everyone to be a part of this rebirth.

the ISU campus with an average
GPA of 3.14. On the service front,
our colony has already been active
and engaged within the

hours have been logged, with
many of our members participating

Graduate
Brothers,
I am humbled
to be chosen by
my brothers to
serve as our
colony
president. It is
truly an honor have an
opportunity to lead such an
accomplished group of young
men. Further, having the
opportunity to meet so many
graduate brothers at Pig
Dinner, combined with the
support you have shown to the
colony, has allowed us to
establish strong roots that will
surely thrive in years to come.
We owe a tremendous debt to
our Graduate Brothers, and we
pledge to make our brothers
proud as we make our mark at
Indiana State University.
As we have taken time to learn
more about Phi Gamma Delta,
each other, and even ourselves,
our group has bonded and
formed lasting friendships. By
the end of the semester, we had
initiated 14 members into a
colony with 3 pledges who will
begin our Beta Class.
Fundraising and scholarship are
among some of colony‟s early
successes. A well planned
series of fundraising events and
methods are underway and our
colony was number one in
grades within all fraternities on
Looking into the future, we know
that our efforts to establish a
strong foundation will be gratified
with fall rush. The colony had a
long meeting with our Purple
Legionnaire and Section Chief to
create an ambitious and
comprehensive plan for
recruitment. We also have one
large recruitment event which the
IFC has delegated to a committee
comprised of all ISU fraternities
and chaired by our Purple
Legionnaire Brother Dustin Ogle
(2002). Our goal this next
semester is to share our
brotherhood with two pledge
classes totaling 30 pledge brothers.

your chance to
join the fun as we
do it again. The

$20, and golfing skill is NOT
necessary!!! All levels of golfers
are welcome.
Don't play golf? Not to worry!
Charlie Brown (1974) is organizing
a bowling event. The cost is only
$20, that is also at the “Landing”.
Don't do either? Great!!! You can
come to be a score keeper and hold
the bar down while the rest of us
try to prove what great athletes we

Mark the dates on your calendar,
and plan to come join us for the
weekend!

We have the ability, the opportunity,
and the duty to serve our fellow
human beings. Our reward is the
satisfaction that comes from serving.
Brock Jones (2014) shared the
following comments on his
experience in Joplin, MO.
Brock is a colony brother and
FIJI legacy to brother Bryce
Jones (Iota Sigma, 2001). Brock
says, “I recently traveled out
west to help out with relief
work in Joplin, Missouri. The
experience alone was a one in a
million-----to see everyday
people like you and me
speechless----- to not know
what they will do next in the
process to rebuild their lives that
were destroyed by a tornado on
May 22nd.”
Why did you choose Indiana State?
I wanted to go to a small university
where the learning environment is
more approachable
“A group from my local church
and I decided to join my middle
brother and his church to head
down and help with what ever was
needed at the time! I was mostly
surprised by the overall look of the
town, since I had been there a few
times prior to this trip I knew what
the town looked like. The extent
of the damage and the widespread
impact to every facet of people‟s
lives did not truly hit me until I
saw it in person—being feet away
from cars, buildings, houses, trees,
etc. that were completely
destroyed! I could start to explain
what it was like in words, but
seeing it in person and reading
about it doesn't come close to
realization, and the wake up call
that, that could have been Terre
Haute, or my home town!”
Why did you pledge Phi Gamma
Delta? I rushed four fraternities
(ATO, Lambda Chi Alpha, Theta Chi
and Phi Gamma Delta) and eventually
decided on being a FIJI. I liked the
brotherhood first and foremost and
was influenced and convinced to join
by brothers such as Tim Harlan (1972)
and Robert Forster (1979) at the time.
Homecoming 2011 to be Family Event
Homecoming is a time
to reconnect with your
alma mater, FIJI
brothers and their
families, and other
college friends.
This year the FIJI tent
will be a destination for
FIJIs, their families, and
friends wandering by.
We've made
arrangements for the
tent to be catered, to
have tailgate games, and
a BYOB delivery system
if you wish to enjoy an
adult beverage.
We have contracted with
a local caterer to give
everyone access to
quality food, tables, and
non-alcoholic beverages.
Families of graduate
brothers and colony
members‟ parents
are invited as well.
We will ask for
donations at the tent
to offset the cost of
the food, but there is
no specific cost to
attend the tent. We
do ask, however,
that you register for
the tent so that we
can have enough
food available. You
can find a
registration link at
www.isufiji.com.

Graduate Spotlight—Jerry Crisostomo (1981)
What is your favorite memory as an
undergraduate? Winning the very
competitive Songfest competition
against the Phi Delts.
What is your favorite memory as a
graduate so far? Coming back and
attending the Chapter‟s 25th
Anniversary Pig Dinner.
What kind of influence has the
Fraternity had on your life? The
experience and involvement with the
Fraternity has made me a better
professional and an individual. The
Fraternity taught me about service and
leadership which I continue to apply in
my daily life today both professionally
and personally.
What activities were you involved
in during college? I was the IFC
Vice President and Rush Chairman,
College Republicans, Delta Sigma Pi
Business Fraternity, Student Alumni
Council Vice President and Secretary,
Junior Union Board member.
What are you famous for doing as
an undergraduate? I served as Rush
Chairman for two years and was
known for increasing our membership.
What are you famous for outside of
PGD? Politics…I am a diehard Reagan
Republican. During my senior year, I was
selected to represent Indiana State
University as a Senate Intern for the State
of Indiana Senate. I was involved in
Indiana Young Republican activities and
continue this involvement with the Guam
Republican politics.
With whom do you stay in contact? I
have lost touch with almost everyone since
relocating outside of the U.S. Mainland.
However, Dean Ambs (1981) and I have
talked on occasion long distance.
Tell us about your family. I have been
married for 18 years to Lorilee Crisostomo,
(Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, San
Francisco State University). We have three
children, Gino, (18) who will be a freshman
in college this year; LyAna (13); and Gary
(9).
What is your nickname and how did
you get it? Brothers called me “Guamy”
sometimes since I am from the U.S.
Territory of Guam. Although I grew up in
Indianapolis and lived in Indiana for years,
I relocated in 1990 to Guam for a new
career in government and eventually found
myself back in the private sector.
Who were your roommates in the FIJI
house? Any good stories? Doug Ewing
(1981), Tom Spotts (1982), Dean Ambs
(1981).
Tell us about your career. I am currently
the Senior Vice President and Chief
Operating Officer for NetCare Life &
Health Insurance Company based on
Guam. We are a health insurance company
marketing HMO, PPO, HDHP/HSA
products to clients in Guam and the
Western Pacific region, including clients in
Asia.
What are your major interests now? I am still
actively involved in Republican politics and will
be seeking the Republican Party of Guam State
Chairman‟s position later this year. I enjoy
playing golf and running. I am also a Coast
Guard Reservist.
What are your goals for the next few years?
My goals for the next few years would include
making a trip back to Indiana for a visit to
friends, family and Fiji brothers and starting my
own insurance agency business within the next
two years.
How should brothers reach you if they want
to get in touch again? The best way to reach
me is by email at jcrisostomo82@gmail.com or
jcrisostomo@netcarelifeandhealth.com

The chapter would like to thank everyone who came back to welcome the newly pledged colony brothers and help make it one of the
largest & most enjoyable Pig Dinners in Iota Sigma‟s history. Some of the highlights of the weekend include over 70 brothers in
attendance, $700.00 being raised to help fund the Don Mighell Scholarship Fund, keynote speech being given by the original colony
president Mike Schell and over 10 graduate brothers receiving Silver White Owls.
With the 2011 dinner now a part of the colony‟s history, we have already started making plans for the 2012 dinner. One of these plans
includes the inaugural Iota Sigma 3 on 3 basketball tournament for grads and undergrads. We hope you will mark your calendars and
make plans to attend next year‟s dinner on April 21, 2012 at the Meadows Banquet Center and be a part of the Iota Sigma experience.

Golf & Bowling details for August 13
The golf will be $20 per person and includes a cart. The golfing format will be best-ball where 4-man teams will be chosen by random drawing (so you can get to
know your brothers). Teams will be chosen at 9:30 am and will tee off around 10:00 am.
Charlie Brown will be in charge of the bowling tournament (the bowling alleys are right at the golf course in the building we will eat in). The bowling will
assemble around 10:30 am and the bowling will start around 11:00 am. Be sure to come early to heckle the golfers.
“Not For College Days Alone”
Saturday evening from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm, we will gather at the Copper Bar at 8th and Wabash for some food and a cash bar. Gals are welcome also. Motel
rooms will be available at the Hilton Garden Inn 812-234-8900 at a discounted rate under Phi Gamma Delta. The Quality Inn 812-235-3333 is also close to the
downtown. Mark the dates on your calendar, and plan to come join us for the weekend!
