COMMENTS
Psi continues to be a successful
leader at Wabash. Forty-nine brothers
and fifteen pledges now inhabit the
house. Seven others, (three married),
live out, but continue their association.

This however, is only part of our
concern. If our care is to promote
brotherhood, we must also strengthen
our link with our graduate brothers. If
we are to gain wisdom, we must
continue to seek guidance from our
more experienced brothers. If we are

THEN
NOW
IN THE MINUTES
Psi's history as recorded by
chapter historians provides a wealth of
information about our brothers. The
memorable account of Psi's first 75
years "Phi Gamma Delta atWabash"
by Ed H. Ziegner (Psi '42) and "Phi
Gamma Delta at Wabash College 19411966" by the late Ralph G. Hesler (Psi
'43) are also sources of Psi's unique
personalities.
Recently it has been noted that
even the minutes of meetings provide
color and life to the history of Psi's
brotherhood. A small sample of the
lighter side of meetings during 19691970 shows the hard
realities of
running a fraternity.
Economic concerns rank high on
the list. Every meeting, formal or
informal, began with a reminder to
pay house bills and turn off un-needed
lights. According to the minutes,crisis
came when Brother Strider inquired
when the house would get a new TV
tube. The situation was critical. "The
tube is almost shot and the Super Bowl
is on next Sunday," Strider
proclaimed. Bro. Songer replied,
"they cost about $300, but we could get
a black & white tube for $100." There
was much booing on this account. The
issue remained unresolved.
Some prominent figures arose, as
Bro. Wayne Middendorf might say,
''out of the purple sky." Among them is
Chiquita, a stag film star, Ralph's
Mother (a person or event - we can't
tell) and Sam. According to Bro.
Brackemyre, "Sam can offend many
of the dates by biting on their legs and
ripping off their clothes.'' We found out
later that Sam was the pet dog of Bro.
Parker. He sought equal criticism of
the cats in the house. His wish was
granted at a later meeting when Bro.
Shaber asked the house to adopt

or another. Brother Degitz even kept

brothers were issued the following

The minutes provide many clues
The meeting minutes are full of to the character of Psi Chapter. The
entries concerning the sexual prowess undergraduates, during 1969-70, most
of various brothers, their honorable certainly were a close chapter. As the
