fall. We gained a total of nine pledges,
all good men, and we expect even
more in the coming months.
Speaking of summer rush, I would
like to express my thanks, along with
the chapter's, to the graduate brothers
who helped us this summer.
Of course, our B.C.A. was a big help
before, during and after summer rush.
However, the people I wish to thank
now are those brothers who lent us

SOCIAL SERVICE
Howard
The brothers at Upsilon Kappa
realize that there is more to life than just
partying and studying. We have be
come quite involved in social service
this semester.
Earlier this year, the Central Ken
tucky Blood Center was running low on
blood. In answering a plea for help
made to all the Greeks here at U.K.,
several Fijis went to the Center one
night to donate their pints.
Also, just recently, the March of
Dimes was sponsoring a haunted
house. They supplied the building and
the materials, and all the U.K. Greeks
were asked to design, build, and man
the rooms. We, being paired with the
DG's and the SAE's, spent many long
(but enjoyable) hours being ghouls for
the March of Dimes.
In the past, we have had a Halloween
or Christmas party for several underpri-
viledged children of Lexington. Hope
fully, that tradition will be continued this
year, along with several other benefi
cial service projects.

learning the history and traditions that
have made Phi Gam the great fraternity
it is.

The pledges are planning to repair
the sidewalk and fence in our back yard
as our house project. This will begin

the near future. This
project will be funded partially by the
chapter and partially by money the
pledges themselves have earned for
this purpose.

These nine pledges show that our
chapter is definitely growing. With
them, plus the pledges we will get from
what we expect to be a successful
spring rush, we will finally be adding
some quantity, as well as quality, to

The members of this chapter are
proud of our grades, but we realize
there is still a long way to go. While not
forsaking recreation and socializing,
the U.K. Fijis are approaching this

NEW GRADUATE
BROTHERS
Four of the brothers of Upsilon
Kappa became graduate brothers in
May 77. These four are prime reasons
why this chapter has been so strong
scholastically.
Two of these have continued their
education. William C. Harrison is now

The other two have assumed execu

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Last semester, when I wrote my
"State of the Chapter" message, I

excitement and enthusiasm can be

These men are always giving both

they prod and they push in order to
guide us in the rebuilding process. I
would like to take this time to thank the
B.C.A. personally and I urge all of the
graduates to do the same.
