Rush chairman Travis Brizendine (2012) and Devon Shovanec (2012) have signed 34 new

Capital Campaign Report
Dear Brothers,
As we finish the third year of our capital campaign, I feel
like I did going into my Senior year of college. I know the
end is near, but in order to finish in four years, there is still
a lot of work to get done. With $1.2 million in pledges and
This campaign has been an interesting journey. We
embarked on this project simply to raise funds for a much
needed renovation of our physical structure. The results of

I would first like to thank the 225 brothers who have given
to the campaign. Notably, John Gottschalk ('65), Duane
Swanson ('59), and Mike Cassling ('86) have each come
back in the latter half of the campaign with second pledges
with brothers. We now have an active graduate chapter
in Omaha, annual social gatherings at the house and on
the golf course, and an active building committee. More

contacts being made on behalf of the campaign. Some of
our brothers are not in a position to give at this time, but
have inserted our chapter as a beneficiary in their estates.
These brothers have insured our financial health with their
generosity and we will enjoy the fruits of this campaign
well into our future. If this type of giving would best meet
your needs, please do not hesitate to call me.
With a $50,000 challenge gift from Mike Cassling, we need
new donors
to come forward. Although we have been fortunate to
have brothers willing to make large donations to jump
start the campaign and keep it rolling, we need donations
of all amounts from as many brothers as possible in order
to complete the campaign. Please consider giving in any
amount possible. Your gift may still be spread over five
years and will be worth 50% more than the amount pledged
as your gift is matched by Mike's.
On Friday,September 24th before Pig Dinner, we will have
a brief meeting from 4-5:30 p.m. at the chapter house to
discuss the campaign. I urge all of you to attend. We will
soon be breaking ground on our project and will need the
expertise of many brothers during that phase of this project.
Your input and interest is most enthusiastically encouraged!

Brother Ted Turkington is yet another
shining example for Lambda Nu in the
business
world.
This

valuable technology companies and Ted has been a fixture in driving
company sales.
He originally hails from Ogallala and is married to Michelle Bishop of

spring break trips he had taken to
Florida and Padre Island."

\r\nCorporation Report
Dear Brothers,
As President of the House Corporation Board this is my favorite
time of year. The house is alive with activity, new faces and the
promise of the year ahead. Husker football will be in full swing
soon and with that the excitement of Saturdays in Lincoln. I'm
sure all of you remember the anticipation that autumn brings.
The goal for the rush chairmen was set at 30 new pledges to
receive their free house bills and as of this writing the number of
signed pledges was 34—Making it Lambda Nu's largest class in
years.
The re-establishment of a BCA(Board of Chapter Advisors)
has been a goal of the House Corporation Board since last year.
The BCA is tasked with guiding the undergraduate cabinet and
helping them solve problems and set benchmarks for the chapter.
It's my pleasure to report to you that Lambda Nu is alive
and thriving. The House Corporation Board has invested
approximately $10,000 this summer for necessary repairs
and maintenance to the structure as we plan for the upcoming
renovation. We've begun to use some professional cleaning
and repair contractors for work in the
house as we are formulating a complete
property management schedule for the
post-renovation era. We understand
that many of you have given a sizable
amount to the campaign and we are
I made mention of this in the last newsletter and asked those who
had an interest to please step forward. I am proud to announce

cabinet and will be formally introduced

We began this as an "agenda item"
We simply felt too many were not participating in the house as
in a 2003 meeting and to see the support we have received so
they should. The undergrads responded and with our guidance

\r\nHelp Phi Gamma Delta and
minimize your tax burden
The Lambda Nu Graduate Association's capital campaign, in support of providing a safe,
modern Phi Gamma Delta chapter house for years to come, is an immediate need. If you are
absolutely not able to support the Association today, would you consider including the Lambda Nu
Graduate Association of Phi Gamma Delta in your estate planning? Thisfuture giving allows gifts which can
be made without giving money now to support organizations that are important to you. With the current tax laws,
estate planning techniques are more important than ever.
There are different tools available for future giving to Lambda Nu.
•
Charitable Bequests
•
Life Insurance
•
Retirement Plan Assets
•
Retained Life Estates
,
Graduate Brothers may also want to consider Gifts that Return an Income to You - such as charitable gift annuities that
pay the donor fixed income payments to a future date. There are current tax breaks for these arrangements.
Feel free to contact Chad Pfeiffer, Graduate Association Treasurer at 402.310.0007. Chad can explain the general
concepts and how Lambda Nu works in conjunction with the University of Nebraska Foundation. For tax and legal
advice, please consult your tax and legal professionals.
