After the events of early this year unfolded, the Lambda Nu chapter was
handed a “suspension” by the University’s Dean of Student Affairs. Never
the less the chapter is powering through and working with nationals to
continue the functionality of the chapter and to maintain as much
normalcy during this time as possible. Contrary to what the University may
think, the chapter didn’t rely on the University before the suspension and
we certainly will not need to in the future. Several grads are engaging the
University to ensure our chapter is dealt a fair hand and handled in a
professional manner both in the past and in the future. The undergraduate
chapter cannot show enough gratitude for the overwhelming graduate
support we have received over the past semester.
This Fall we will have around 40 men living in the house. The freshmen will
be required to live in the dorms. We have been able to secure rooms
within the dorms to ensure the pledges will live together. With this said
our rush chairs are hard at work recruiting the pledge class of 2017 and
using the handful of perks of being “off campus” to recruit future
members. These perks include having socials within our own chapter
house and less unreasonable scrutiny by the University. Currently, we
have 25 rushees with a solid interest in the house but are still looking to
meet more. The future is bright for the Lambda Nu Chapter, and the
chapter is excited for what the future holds.
If you have rush recommendations, please let the chapter rush chairs
know.

Spring Philanthropy
Chapter raises $10,000 for I’ve Got a Name
Our chapter has been proud to present I’ve Got a Name, a charity organization which
fights sex trafficking here in Nebraska with a $10,000 check. A portion, if not all of our
donation, will be matched by the Lincoln Community Foundation which could double the
impact we have on the organization. The funds were raised through a raffle which was
organized by philanthropy chairs Austin Hofeling, and Sean Caniglia along with the help of
Courtney Flannigan. Members were busy this spring selling tickets to friends, family,
grads, the public, and manned a booth in the Union to reach our chapter goal. The raffle
prizes included a diamond Husker pendant, a TV, a hunt/golf package, an Ipad and a
Husker football package. Prizes were raffled off after the Spring Game at the house. The
philanthropy was an excellent opportunity to showcase the success the chapter can
achieve.
Undergraduate Fiji Brothers helped with landscaping at
Clinton Elementary for the UNL Big Event Volunteering Day.
Chapter Participates in
UNL’s Big Event
On April 12, the chapter participated in UNL’s annual
Big Event. The Big Event is branded as an all campus
volunteer day in which groups of students, student
organizations, and Greek houses are sent out to
preform volunteer work in the community. This year
our chapter helped Irving Middle School/Rec Center in
Southeast Lincoln to prepare the garden beds the
preschool/daycare uses in the summer and helped
pick up trash around the building.

NEBRAKSA SPRING GAME 2017
The morning of the Husker Spring Game parents, graduates, and
undergraduate members came together for an open house, and brunch at
Chez Hay. Undergraduate members had the opportunity to show off the
chapter house and chat with their parents at the house. Soon after
members and their families headed to Chez Hay for a catered brunch.
Afterward, President Pupkes thanked all the parents for coming, and
Graduate Brother Skradski shared an encouraging message about the
situation with the University. Members and their families were then free
to head to the spring game and enjoy their afternoon. The Red team
prevailed 57-7 over the White at the game. After the game, members and
their families were invited back to the house for the spring philanthropy
raffle drawing, where the winners were announced.
