Dear Graduate Brother,
We, the active chapter of Zeta of Phi Gamma Delta, would like to invite

Fiji's On Top In Intramurals
With the first semester coming to a close, Fiji is firmly on top in this year's race
for the Crimson (large fraternity) intramural championship.
Fueled by second place finishes in football, swimming and table tennis, as well
as third place finishes in tennis and racquetball,Zeta is well on its way to claiming
its sixth intramural title in the past eight years.
Fiji's "C" and "P" football teams claimed division championships, while the
"B"squad lost its title game in the final seconds. The "C" team advanced to the
Crimson fraternity finals, but was edged by the quick and scrappy Alpha Epsilon
Pi "A" team.
The brothers of Zeta are presently working hard in preparation for the up
coming volleyball and basketball seasons, and hope to move even further ahead
of our competition in the second semester of the 1981-82 school year.

President McMahon's Message
Zeta chapter is alive and well. We are leading in intramurals, we are paired with Alpha Chi Omega for I.U.
Sing, and the new pledge class is making a tremendous
contribution to the strength of the fraternity.
The brothers captured first place in intramural wrest
chapter has set a goal of a combined house CPA of 3.0 for
this semester, and much studying is being done to achieve
it.
The Norris Pig Dinner is scheduled for March 6 this
year, so mark your calendars and plan to attend. Remem
ber, this is the time when we elect House Corporation
ling. and two Fiji football teams won division champion
ships. We are also scoring well in the individual sports,
members. Our speaker for the event will be I.U. football
and it appears the intramural trophy will return to its
traditional place in Zeta's trophy case.

Zeta Pledge Class Outstanding—A gain!
This year's pledge class is as diverse and outstanding
as any that has ever entered Zeta. Last year's tremendous
rush program yielded 32 excellent men, all of whom are
already contributing to chapter excellence.
The class features two valedictorians, several scholar
ship winners, and numerous all-conference and all-state
athletes. Three members of the class participate in var
sity sports at I.U.
Already with the end of formal pledge training, this
year's pledge class has integrated into the overall chapter
structure. They have assumed roles in house committees
and completed their house project. For their project, they
painted the patio fence, painted lines in the parking lot.
and reworked the stones trimming the landscape of the
House.
On campus, they have already joined Student Alumni
Council and plan to become active in many other activi
ties.
Intramurally, the class won crimson pledge division in
football, and were strong competitors for the house in
swimming, wrestling, and tennis. For basketball they
should field a strong team as eight members of the class
earned varsity basketball letters. Also,30 of the 32 earned
a varsity letter in one sport at their high school.
Please send in any recommendations for next year's
rush so every class can be as good.

Fiji Isle Establishes Ne'w Tradition
Zeta held one of the most successful Fiji Isle dances in
recent memory September 20, establishing a new tradi
tion in the process.
This year, the pool and dance areas were located in the
parking lot rather than in front of the house, thus pre
serving the appearance of the front lawn. This change
created more space for dancing, and also provided a
better location for the band.
As usual Oak Room, Oak Hall and the patio were
superbly decorated, and the 20 tons of sand spread over
the parking lot gave the dance a true beach party feel.
Because the pool was constructed in the parking lot, it
could not be supported by in-ground posts as has been
the case in the past. To solve this problem, the Fiji Isle
committee had blueprints drawn up by a local engineer.
The result—ground braces were built and the entire pool
strengthened by steel cable. This made the pool easier to
dismantle, and provided next year's committee with a
ready made plan of action.
