Gamma Tau Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta
Fiji Island Party Set For May 22-23
By Bill Grip
As springtime rolls around again, one
thinks of love and April showers that br
ing May flowers. But as you all know,
springtime at 841 Fowler Street means
bigger and better things; namely Island
Party.
This year's edition of Gamma Tau's
biggest social event will, as usual, try to
be the best one ever. Construction of the
huts and the digging of the pool began
about three weeks ago, and steady
progress is being made to the completion
date of Friday, May 22. The cochairmen, Mark White and Bill Grip,
along with the social chairman. Woody
Mercer, have managed to cotitract two ot
Atlanta's best rock 'n' roll bands to per
form for the event. In addition, this
year's design features two pools that will
be separated by a large sand, dancing
area.
The dates for this year's event are May
22 and May 23. Everything starts around
6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22, with din
ner, cooked by last year's chef, Mike
Bruce, and plenty of cold beer. The even
ing's music will be provided by
"Traveler," a band relatively unknown
at Tech, but sure to be a winner.
Saturday's activities start off at 11:00
a.m. with the traditional wedding
With only a few days to go, construction is nearing completion.
The Gamma Tau chapter of Phi
Gamma Delta wishes for all grads to
mark their calendars for this event. If you
will be able to attend, please let us know

New
Pig Dinner a Success
President
By Rick St John
On Saturday, April 4, the brothers and
graduates of Gamma Tau celebrated our
fifty-fifth annual Norris Pig Dinner.
Festrivities began with a cocktail party at
the chapter house. During this time old
friends were reacquainted and the un
dergraduate brothers got a chance to
meet and
talk
with some of the
forebrothers who helped to make this
chapter as strong and active as it is to
day.

special buffet had been prepared in one
of the larger meeting rooms. As is
traditional, we all joined hands in a large

Future
Dear Brothers,
Spring quarter got under way on a big
note with the commencement of our an
nual Norris Pig Dinner. Pig Dinner
featured its usual good food and an in
spiring speech given by famed Olympic
miler, Glenn Cunningham. A good time
was had by all, which was accented by an
attendance of ninety-six graduate and
undergraduate Fijis. Many thanks go to
Brother Tilton for his hard work in
organizing the dinner.
Gamma Tau is once again involved in
another community service project. After
having met with great success in the Fall
with the Leukemia drive, we are now
working with the Red Cross in sponsoring
a blood drive at Georgia Tech. A team of
fourty Fijis will be working over a period
for maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA for
four consecutive quarters; and Brother
