Upcoming: Homecoming!
Brothers,
This year’s Homecoming game will be on Saturday, October 23.
The Fighting Illini will be going up against the Indiana Hoosiers; at
the time of writing, Indiana is undefeated but it should still be a good
game! As in the past, we will have brothers around the house giving
tours before, during, and after the football game. Immediately after the
football game, we will have a barbecue at the house. We hope that you
can stop by and see all the house improvements we have made recently.
In the evening, we will reconvene at one of the fine establishments that
Champaign has to offer.
Hope to see you there!

Fiji Goes Green!
Brothers,
The Chi Iota chapter is looking to do its part in keeping our planet green. With that in mind we have
decided that the Fall Edition of the Chi Iota Chronicle will no longer be printed. Instead the Fall Edition
will be sent out by way of E-mail. However, we do realize that some brothers may still be interested
in receiving a hard copy of the fall newsletter. If you wish to receive a mailing of the next newsletter
please email me at JWandrey1@mac.com or send a letter to the house at 902 S. 2nd Street, Champaign,
Illinois 61820. We will make sure to continue mailing you the Fall Chi Iota Chronicle.

MSU Chartering
By: Matt Schipp
On September 11, 2010, the
Epsilon Lambda colony of Michigan State University was chartered with the help of some Chi
Iota FIJIs. The 53-man strong
chapter is the 116th chapter in
Phi Gamma Delta (sidebar: Phi
Gamma Delta currently has 116
Chapters and 14 Delta Colonies.)
Chi Iota was well-represented in
the ceremonies: two undergraduates served on the Ritual team:
Matt Kirby ’12 as the Chapter
Treasurer and Matt Schipp ’12 as
a Director. Archon President Jim
Hickey ’75 delivered the keynote
address and Director of Expansion Josh Laufenberg ‘08 made
sure everything ran smoothly.
Most importantly, Charlie Ieuter ’83 was there to witness the
initiation of his son, Max Ieuter
(MSU ’12), and welcome him as
a 3rd generation FIJI. William
Ieuter ’57, Charlie Ieuter ’83,
and Max Ieuter (MSU ’12) were
recognized and became members
of the Fiji Sires and Sons. The
chartering was an incredible experience for everyone involved
and we wish Epsilon Lambda the
best of luck!
Fijis build a playground
By: Matt Schipp
Corresponding Secretary
As dawn was breaking in Champaign, 16 Chi Iota
FIJIs headed out to do some good for the community. They
joined a large group of volunteers whose mission was to
build a playground. Starting with a bare yard, a heap of
materials, and 160 cubic yards of mulch, these men helped
to create (in their humble opinion) the best playground in
the county. Our jobs included mixing and pouring cement
as well as spreading out the huge pile of mulch. It was an
exhausting day but they were happy to have accomplished
so much for the community.

Hire a Fiji!
Corresponding Secretary
It is fall semester and that means it is time for the undergraduates to search for jobs and internships! If your company
has entry level positions available as well as summer internships and would like to help out a fellow FIJI, please let me
know. I can act as a liaison and send you qualified candidates
to fit the job. Chi Iota is a scholarly and hardworking group
of guys. Brothers are studying a wide array of majors including most fields of engineering and business. I look forward
to hearing from you!
