A LETTER FROM OUR
HOUSE CORPORATION PRESIDENT
FALL 2018
Dear Fiji Penn State Alumni,
First and foremost, Phi Gamma Delta is at Penn State to stay! With all the new restrictions placed
on fraternities as a result of the death at Beta, it will only make Gamma Phi a stronger chapter! This
fall we have 45 brothers living in the house. This is close to our maximum of 48 and occupies all of
our renovated rooms. Some of the new restrictions include:
1. A limit on the number of social events - as of now only 10 with alcohol all semester and no daylong events.
2. No more hard liquor at house socials.
3. Beer and wine at social functions only.
4. A certified bartender at any alcohol included parties.
5. No functions that exceed the legal occupancy of the house that was established by the Centre
County Borough officials (Fiji is at 147 including the basement and first floor).
6. Rush restrictions are limited at this time to second-semester freshmen starting fall of 2018 with
GPA of 2.5 or greater and 14 credit hours earned.
\r\n7. Attend several educational informational sessions by 75% of members with elected and
appointed officers passing a test.
These restrictions have been put in place with no input from the fraternity and sorority groups.
Meetings are taking place between these groups, the Interfraternity Council, the Fraternity
President’s Council, and the University to clarify and attempt to work together to adopt uniform
standards in the fraternity system. Of particular importance is our rush system and timing of
same. We do not want to see empty houses in the fall of 2018!
I will keep you updated on these new rules, and everyone is deeply saddened by the Beta
death.
Perge!

HOUSING CORPORATION FINANCIALS
Ray Tiley, our House Corporation treasurer, gave our financial condition to those attending
the meeting. Our fiscal year that ended on 8/31/18 has us in very good financial standing.
Total current assets were $204, 593 (this is prior to any rent payments for the fall semester).
Income for the year totaled $151,711 and included donations, parking fees from Art’s Fest,
laundry machine fees, undergrad payments and past rental to the chapter. Total expenses for
the year were $112,144 resulting in net income of $39,567.
The House Corporation is accumulating funds for our major roof replacement project which
is needed in the next several years.
If you would like a copy of the complete financial statement please contact Bill Oliver at
ollierock44@gmail.com.
FALL PLEDGE CLASS
With the new pledging rules and regulations
from the University, Gamma Phi is fortunate
to have pledged 6 new members during this
fall rush! These young men were introduced
to the House Corporation at its meeting on
10/29.

To pay by check, please fill out the form on the last page and mail it, along with your check to:
Gamma Phi Chapter, PO Box 953, State College, PA 16804.
Please note: If you currently have a recurring gift set up through Phi Gamma Delta International,
those donations will stop being processed on August 31. You can easily reactivate those
recurring gifts through our own online giving portal. You’ll see a variety of ways to set up
monthly giving towards the bottom of the giving options. As always, we thank you for your
generous financial support!
Finally, tax-deductible donations to the Phi Gamma Delta Chapter Housing Educational
Foundation (CHEF) are still made to our International Headquarters in the name of Gamma
Phi. Please contact Ben Robinson at 859-255-1848 x133 prior to making these contributions.
These can be cash or equity donations. Several of us have inflated stocks that we do not want to
pay taxes on. An excellent way to dispose of them, tax free, is to donate them to this CHEF fund!
