Update on Board of Graduate-'
By Jim Folkes '76, Graduate Trustee
This past March, you read in these
pages about the establishment of a
Board of Graduate Trustees,formed in
order to develop policies, review
operations and membership,control
finances and revitalize the
imdergraduate chapter. This"new
course of action" has had the effect of
clearly expressing the expectations the
graduates have regarding our chapter.
With clearly defined expectations,the
undergraduates now have a structure
within which to work.
Let's face facts. Both graduates and
imdergraduates needed to renew their
commitments to our chapter. All the

rather vigorous wake^ttpjiaiuastyear
with the impositions placed upon them
by Lehigh and national fraternity
officials and by the Graduate Trustees.
All undergraduates were tested and
came away from the experience better
men. I am confident that they have
the capacity to become an elite
chapter once again.
However,if we are to succeed, we
need not only to continue the "new
course of action" taken by the
graduates,but also to expand it. Jim

Danjczek'72,Mark Torie'78,Bob
Davies(Gettysburg'57)and I will
successful fraternities have an active,

Through the efforts of Jim Folkes 76,Brother Tanis'63 has accepted our
invitation to be our speaker. Dave was a standout on the freshman and varsity
Lehigh basketball teams. He was a judge before retiring to prac:tice law in
Winston-Salem,N.C.He and his wife,Stephanie, who escaped from East
Germany at the age of 17,have a daughter,Colette,and a son,Steve.

are ideal occasions to hcxik up
with classmates.
2. Accept the challenge to speak
with the undergraduates about
careers and the Lehigh and Phi
Gam experience. Thirty
graduates were asked to do so
during this fall semester. If
successful, we'll expand this
program in the spring.
