\r\nGreetings Brothers!
As I hope you have already heard, the Delta Xi chapter is continuing to make
positive changes in order to improve life here in Berkeley. The chapter morale is high due
to our increasingly positive relationship with the International Fraternity and our alumni.
Under the guidance of Field Secretary Tom D'Angelo, we have established an active
committee system that requires the participation of almost every active brother. Also, our
relationship with our Housing Corporation continues to blossom. Mr. Tim Muller is pleased
with the upkeep of the fraternity house and he is planning to overhaul the entire electrical
system over the summer. With the maintenance of the house at a astonishingly high level,
the brothers have begun to take more pride in the fraternity and the enthusiasm has carried
over to other projects. Under our dedicated philanthropy chair, Rob Martin, the brothers
chose to raise money for the Aplastic Anemia Foundation because Neil Purdy(Delta Xi, '82)
is sick with the disease. Last fall, the brothers sold T-shirts, designed by Travis Kroll, for
the California-USC football game in order to raise money for the cause. With the brothers
actively selling shirts on campus, we managed to gross over three thousand dollars.
Another item of interest is the purchase of a new house television. The addition of a new
60-inch TV to the living room has brought many brothers out of their rooms and in front of
the huge screen. The house mother's club bought the TV for the house with funds raised at
the annual house auction and at football luncheons. We welcomed the TV to the house on
Super bowl Weekend, bringing together 'actives,' pledges, and a crowd of friends to cheer on
the Redskins.
1992 marks the 106th year that Delta Xi has graced the Berkeley campus. We enjoy
an illustrious history filled with traditions of excellence. The goal of our brotherhood is to
unite all Fiji's, Inchtding actives and alumni. With that in mind, I remind all alumni to be
on the lookout for invitations and information concerning future events and projects here at
the house. In the meantime, let me encourage all Fijis to visit us in Berkeley and share in
the positive feelings and activities that abound.

\r\nFiji Scholarship on the Rise!
Throughout the last year, Delta Xi
has continued in its efforts to raise the
level of scholarship.
Through a
concentrated effort by all actives, we are
gradually increasing our overall G.P.A.
In addition, our new pledges are excited
about making contributions to the house
scholastic composite, and we hope to all
work together to make larger gains in the
future.
We h-ate implement.'^d .study

spend a minimum of six hours per week
in the library. They haven't objected and,

occasion.
The program has been
successful so far as several pledges have
shown a marked improvement in their
grades.
For the active brothers in the
this workshop available to us.
Also, there will be three cash
prizes awarded to the Delta Xi members
who demonstrate superior scholarship.
Each winner receives $250 for his
achievement in one of the three following
categories:
Most Improved G.P.A.,
Highest Semester G.P.A., and Scholarship
and, Chapter Involvement (a combination
of grades and chapter services).
The Bell/Norris scholarship fund
will also be awarded at the Norris Pig
Dinner on April 3rd of this year. This
fund is in honor of two prominent Delta
Xi graduates, Arthur H. Bell (1911) and
Frank Norris (1894). This fund has been
made possible by Mrs. Mary Floyd and
her family. Mary is the daughter of Art
Bell, and each year a representative from
the Floyd family will be involved with the
selection of the recipient. The final
