Golden Eagle Fiji Spring 2015
It has been a fantastic semester for Fiji. Pig Dinner was a great success, and
thank you to everyone that attended. Since then we have accomplished a lot, and
reaped many of the rewards of our prior accomplishments. In the last few weeks
we have not only absolutely demolished Sigma Chi in softball, but have also
maintained the tradition of winning Fraternity of the Year. In addition to that, we also
took home 3rd Place Overall for Greek Week, 5 Star Chapter Award. The Overall
Scholastic Award went to Brant Nickens and Adam Cox , who each have
maintained a 4.0 overall GPA. For Greek Superlatives we received the following
awards: Mr. Greek Life went to Bobby Adams, Most Spirited to Luke Shattuck, and
Most Talented went to Nathan Engler.
Our last honor that we have achieved, and arguably the most accurate
representation of the position that our brotherhood is heading, was seeing our
brother Bobby Adams secure the position of SGA President. We are
extremely proud, but honestly not at all surprised at Bobby Adams earning this
position.
Speaking of bringing people into the family, we now have a fantastic new
Sweetheart, Abby Weeden, and a Purple Legionnaire who is quickly proving
himself indispensable, Tad Engle. He has prepared a letter introducing himself to
those that may not know him.
All in all, its been a phenomenal semester, and we are all super excited to get the
ball rolling for the fall, especially with the knowledge that after an earlier than usual
vote, Phi Mu has agreed to partner with us for Homecoming. We have an
exciting semester ahead of us, and are all very excited to see each of you at
Homecoming.

Golden Eagle Fiji Spring 2015
We have had a wonderful semester as you have already heard from our
Corresponding Secretary. Some of the goals Cabinet and I had coming in were to
recover further financially, improve recruitment, mend and advance relationships on
campus with both sororities and fraternities, to be more involved in the University, to
make better use of technology in communications and finally to improve
relationships with you, the Graduate Brothers.
This spring, Theta Tau was extremely busy as usual. In January, we added 13 new
brothers to our ranks in Lexington as the Gamma Delta pledge class. 7 more men
pledged this semester and should make a great addition to the chapter as the
Gamma Epsilon pledge class. We participated in 4 philanthropies including Phi Delta
Theta's AlSing, Kappa Delta's Shamrock Week, Phi Mu's Bonnamu and Alpha Phi
Alpha's Stepshow. We placed second in both Bonnamu and Stepshow! We had
a great turn out for Pig Dinner with an attendance of 110. Thank you again to Todd
Arrants for being our guest speaker and all the other graduates that helped make it
happen.Congratulations to our Silver Owls and Brent Ellis for winning the
Distinguished Fiji Award. Black Garter Formal, Greek Week and Relay for Life went
smoothly as well. Finally thanks to Billy Leslie and the men on TFI. We have been
able to make significant renovations to the house including fixing the roof,
remodeling the kitchen, and adding fire safety equipment. As Todd mentioned
earlier, we accumulated quite the trophy case of awards at the Greek Awards
banquet. However, in addition to awards and honors, we have also seen our level of
brotherhood increase dramatically over the past semester which will lead to better
recruitment and overall excellence.
I hope that this year is going as well for you as it is for us. Remember that the house
is always open to you and your family if you are ever in town. We would love to have
more graduates come by and see some of the renovations! I wish you the best and
be on the lookout for more updates coming soon!
Perge!

I'd like to give our new Purple Legionnaire a chance to introduce himself, for
those who weren't at Pig Dinner this year.
I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself formally as your chapters Purple
Legionnaire. For those who do not know me, my name is Tad Engle. I graduated from
Tech in December of 2012, and currently reside in Franklin, TN with my wife Jody,
where I currently am a Financial Analyst for a company called LKQ. I assumed the role
of PL in February of 2014. While an undergraduate at Tennessee Tech I held multiple
positions within the chapter including; Graduate Relations, Campus Relations,
Corresponding Secretary, and Chapter President.
While in the chapter and on cabinet, I always found the support and overall selflessness
of our PL (Bo Byers) to be a huge help in assisting with guiding the chapter in the
correct direction. As a cabinet member in two years, I was able to see the best of our
chapter (Cheney cup), and the worst (probation). The guidance we received from our
PL not only helped us reach the heights of International superiority, but also brought us
through the rough years of probation. My experience during those years has been vital
to my current role with the chapter.
Enough about me, I want to speak briefly about the chapter and where they are

heading. In just a short year I have seen the chapter not only grow by numbers but by
Excellence. The chapter has kept its traditions of winning alive, evidenced by their first
place finish in Homecoming, Fraternity of the Year, and 5 Star Chapter. They also still
hold Scholarship in high regard with the brothers being 1 of only 8 chapters with over
20 years above the all mens average in a row. I can also attest to the incredible
brotherhood experienced at TTU. With the current brothers in and leading this chapter
I have no doubt in my mind that Theta Tau will once again gain their place in the upper
echelon of Fiji chapters. I look forward to continuing to serve the undergraduate
chapter as we lead into the fall semester and beyond. If you ever have any concerns or
questions please feel free to contact me, as I am always available to talk about this
chapter. I am very proud of this group of gentlemen, and am damn proud to be a Fiji.

Tad and Jody Engle
Last but not least, here's a short message
from our Recruitment Committee Chairman:
Graduates Brothers,
My name is Elliot Mitzelfeld, and I am the Recruitment Director for the Fall 2015
semester.
I am contacting you to enlist your support in the continued success of this chapter.
We have established an amazing rush committee that is passionate about the
progress this chapter will make. But we can not do it alone. It will take the work of
every brother, undergraduate and graduate to ensure that our continued success
does not slow down. The most important thing that this chapter needs to do is grow.
Without new members, the chapter that you have worked so hard for will cease to
exist in a very short amount of time.
Most of you may not be aware of this, but as a chapter we have decided to enact a
summer recruitment plan that will ensure the most successful rush in recent
history. We need and want the help of the graduate brothers. So I challenge you to
support the success of this chapter and give a few dollars to support our
endeavors.
If you have any questions, suggestions, concerns, or simply a comment please
contact me directly.
Fraternally,
Elliot Mitzelfeld
