SUMMER 2015 EDITION
Nu Epsilon Graduate Mentor
Program
Our chapter has grown immensely over the past few
years and we continue to strive for excellence in
everything we do. Our overall house GPA has
increased significantly, and many of our recent
graduates have hit the ground running in a variety of
diverse careers. Regardless of your craft, be it in film,
medicine, law, engineering or finance, everyone can
use an intern.
In order to leverage the size and success of our
graduate brother network, we would like to set up a
mentoring program. Graduate will be grouped with
undergraduate brothers who are studying in the same
career field. T h is could be a vital opportunity for
undergraduate brothers. I urge you to think back to
when you were graduating college. Think about who
pointed you in the right direction or how it would have
helped you if someone was there to do so. We have a
plethora of brothers eager to shadow doctors, intern
with bankers, and a general population of
undergraduates who would love to go on a coffee run
for you. We are open to ideas on how to start this
mentoring program in the most eff ective manner.
Please sign up whether you have just start-ed or are
very far into your career.

Dear Brothers,
Christmas Cocktail
December 11th
First, I would like to thank all of you who came out
to the Pig Dinner this spring. Not only was it a great
event, but also, it was refreshing to see graduates
mingle with the active brothers. Hopefully, we will
see all of you at this year’s Christmas Cocktail.

$100 per person, dates encouraged
In 2015, we brought in 18 new brothers many of
whom have already become extremely active
members in FIJI and the Greek community. In the
Fall semester alone we brought in 29 pledges aft er
having a record 189 students rush FIJI. These pledges
include varsity athletes, philanthopists and military
men. We also raised over $7,000 in charity this year
and had one of our best social semesters in a long
time. FIJI has made incredible strides over the past
few years, however, we cannot continue our success
alone. We need the help of you, the graduate
brothers, to support us as we move forward.

A goal of my cabinet is to make grads more involved
in the fraternity as a whole. Monetary support is not
our primary goal; we simply want to enhance the relationship between grads and undergrads. We wish to
have more events on top of Pig Dinner and
Christmas Cocktail. Anaz Uddin (2016) and our
new Corresponding Secretary, Alex Britton (2018),
will be getting in touch with all of you about our
weekly events. You do not have to go to all the
festivities but if you are in the New York area please
feel free to come to the house and bond with brothers
of all ages.
Thank you for your continued support. It has been
an honor serving as chapter president this past year.
Mighty proud to be a FIJI!
Fraternally,

\r\nCabinet Notes
Last year, 18 new brothers joined our chapter, and this semester 29 pledges joined, making Nu Epsilon the
biggest it’s been in recent history. Our new pledge class include varsity athletes and military men. We’ve grown so
large that we ran out of room to seat brothers for initiation. FIJI has become a prominent force in Greek Life
academics, athletics, philanthropy and the social sphere. Nu Epsilon has taken a proactive role in the
Interfraternity Community this past year. Two members from our chapter now sit on the Executive Board of the
IFC, Mike Diesu (2016), President and Levi Leet (2017), VP of Recruitment. Additionally, Jack Zabelny (2016)
was named the President of the Order of Omega academic honor society and Rich Hsu (2015), Steinhardt Senior
Class President, was named one of the most influential student at NYU.
Social
Last semester, the social committee successfully hosted
its first ever Fiji Beach Weekend event held in Ocean
City, MD. Brothers also spent spring break with the Pi
Beta Phi Sorority in Jamaica. We took our mixers with
sororities to another level. We explored the NYC
nightlife and ended the semester with our annual FIJI
Formal. FIJI has an outstanding reputation socially and
is now a premiere fraternity on campus. This coming
semester the social committee hopes to be successful
once again in keeping the brothers entertained and
continue making Nu Epsilon stand out from the other
organizations at NYU.

Philanthropy
In the spring, we hosted a Valentine-making event
for veterans, collected a substantial amount of clothes
for our homeless neighbors and collaborated with a
number of organizations with their philanthropic
events. Our most successful philanthropic event of the
spring semester was our co-sponsored Bottomless
Bowling Event at Bowlmor Chelsea Piers with the ladies
of Alpha Epsilon Phi. Together we were able to raise
$2,065 for the Elizabeth Glazer Pediatric AIDS
Foundation. FIJI has made an incredible impact on the
community by hosting blood drives, raising awareness
for child-hood cancer, serving free breakfast to students
studying and many other events. This semester we
already held a charity soccer tournament which raised
$1,100 to fight Childhood Cancer. Together, FIJI, Greek
and other student organizations raised over a $250,000
to fight childhood cancer and we plan to double that
this year.
