First Lieutenant, 90 Squadron, Royal Air Force; killed by a fall with his airplane due to defective mechanism in England, 7-23-1918. At MIT a fund and award for advanced physics is named in is memory; the former MIT chapter's house corporation was named after him. He is also memorialized at Harvard University's Memorial Church.
