1969 Chartering Banquet for Rho Phi Chapter
1969 Chartering Banquet for Rho Phi Chapter. Pictured is Bill Miller (Indiana University 1962, Purdue University 1996) receiving a "gag gift" of an inflatable Budweiser beer can. Bill Miller had the nickname with early Rho Phi members of "Budweiser Bill" for the preferred beer of Bill.
During the early construction in the basement of the chapter house, a single steel Budweiser beer can was placed in the wall which became know as the "Bill Miller Memorial Wall". During subsequent construction, the beer can was retrieved by Joe Weist (Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology 1987, University of Evansville 2000) and put inside the ceiling of the common area in the chapter house basement.
