Welcome graduates! As the spring semester finally

the events.
We had three brothers of fall '15 who attended FIJI academy this semester in St.
Louis. A goal we have as a brotherhood for the future is to improve our relationships
with nationals and by attending these leadership events we hope to further our
recognition nationally. We were also fortunate enough to have met with the current
Director of Chapter Services who came up to our castle during the middle of the term.
Our GPA is another thing that has improved with the overall brought up to a 2.9,
topping the All Men's average and the All Greek average as well. We intend to keep our
pursuit of knowledge and our achievements in scholarship our first priorities as
students.

This semester we also had another very good turnout for the Frank Norris Pig
Dinner with over 100 brothers in attendance! Giving all the graduate brothers another
chance to re-live the "good ole' days." Pig Dinner is always a good time, with the new
members meeting all the older brothers who have influenced us and made us want to
continue to strive to be the best fraternity we can be.
Philanthropy and Service
Over this spring term our philanthropy chairman, Patrick Hurley, has done an
excellent job with setting up events for FIJI and also getting the brothers more involved
with other philanthropies as well. In the beginning of the semester the brothers
participated in Black Bear Dance-a-thon, a 12-hour dancing event that benefits local
children's hospitals. The brothers raised money and attended the event as well. During
the month of March, we hosted our first ever pancake eating contest to benefit the
Make-A-Wish Maine program. Raising over 250 dollars and attendance from other
students and Greek organizations the event was a good time.

Brothers also are very active with service on and off campus as well. The brothers
volunteered at the Bangor humane society, walking shelter dogs. On April 20th, 2018,
all of the brotherhood participated in UMaine's Healthy High 5k-10k run. Some of the
brothers donated and ran the race while the rest of the brotherhood volunteered by
helping set up the event and running a water station for the runners. This brotherhood
not only continues previous philanthropic events, but we also want to make our own
marks on this castle and on our beautiful campus. FIJI wants to make a big impact on
the university and on others through service and philanthropy.

Intramurals
The brothers of FIJI strive to be excellent and excel at everything we do.
Intramural sports are one thing we take seriously while at the same time we still like to
have fun. Although we might not be D1 athletes many of us are still able to showcase
what talents we do have in every sport. This spring we had Ben Leet, who had the
leading score in the fraternity bowling league. Our volleyball and softball teams also
had some star players as well. We look forward to the talent coming in from our
incoming freshman as well.

House Updates and Improvements
The most recent updates that have gone on in The Castle have been in the
bathroom. After the new installation of the divided showers came the new urinal where
the old mop sink used to be as well as new toilet seats. The Coat of Arms was painted
on the bricks in the kitchen by our new members. A few new plaques have also been
installed in the foyer emphasizing the historical importance of The Castle such as the
athletes plaque. Our house manager, Zachary, has also looked into peeling back the
driveway to fill in gravel that will help with the drainage in the driveway, reducing the
number of potholes.
