other activities. Tom is pianning on

Upon arriving at the 106th Ekkiesia,
one was immediateiy impressed at the
vast amount of organization and prep
aration that had gone into this under
taking.
After being whisked through regis
tration (consisting of presenting cre
dentials, obtaining tickets to the
various events scheduled, and getting
dates from a highly efficient date
bureau), we were ready to begin a
very interesting experience.
Perhaps the most inspiring thing
about the Ekklesia to an undergraduate
is the fact that such highly successful
men as Crandall Melvin, Cecil F.
Dawson, William Mennen, etc., have
enough devotion for their fraternity
to give of themselves so freely in
time and energy at this convention.
It was with such inspiring leader
ship that we began our business ses
sions in the theatre of the beautiful
Ambassador Hotel. Among the more
notable changes to the fraternity
structure were the following;
1. The creation of the post of
Educational Director.
2. Ralph

BRISTOR IS NEW P.L

Upon the resignation of Ken Shaw
as Purple Legionnaire, the Alpha Phi
Chapter unanimously elected Bob
Bristor on Monday, October 11, new
Purple Legionnaire for the coming
year. The chapter regrets the loss of
Ken,now the assistant city manager of
Westerville,Ohio, but feelr extremely
fortunate in gaining Bob.
Bob, known more affectionately at
the chapter as"Bristle", has been one
of Alpha Phi's most loyal alumni.
Hailing from the small Ohio town of
Steubenville, he and his twin brother.
Bill, made quite a mark at the Uni
versity.
A man of diversified interests. Bob
servedon the Union Executive Council
while an undergraduate in 1948. Bob
also served as Alpha Phi Recording
Secretary in 1948-1949 and Treasurer
in 1949-1950. The draft interrupted
his studies, and after a delay of two
years he returned to complete his
training toward a Master's degree in
accounting.
Once again the Armed Services
called him, this time as a commis
sioned officer in the air force. Since
his discharge. Bob has been employed
at the Ford Motor Company as a fi
nancial analyzer. He also has been a
member of the Alpha Phi Board since
his return.
Bob has several special interests,
including U.S. Civil War history and
classical music. Still a bachelor, his
interests also include members of the
opposite sex.
At present, "Bristle" is living in
the Union, enabling him to lend his
helpful advice to the house with a
minimum of effort. All of us here at

"Bristle" and wish him the best of

DAD'S WEEK END COMING
November 6 & 7 have been designated
as Dad's Weekend at 707 Oxford. Chair
man Bob Knutson and his committee
have planned a variety of activities
centered, of course, around the Mich
igan vs. Illinois football game. Festi
vities will begin with lunch on Saturday
and continue through Sunday dinner.
We're looking forward to seeing as
many Fiji Dad's as possible.
