The year of 1954 was one of
great success for the men of Lamb
da-Iota, both in campus activities
and house accomplishments.
Some of the more important
campus elective offices rested on
the shoulders of Purdue Fijis. Rog

Student Union, the organization
which plans the highlights of the
campus social season and performs
many services for the students.

Plans for the new addition to
the chapter house were also com
pleted in the year 1954. This new
construction, when completed, cre
ated housing for sixteen men, who
before its completion, were obliged
to live in the hut.
With such tremendous leadership
both internally and on the campU.S—it is no wonder that the "good
.ship Fiji" sailed very smoothly
through that great year 1954.

Homecoming Sparkles With Big Win,
Bright Weather, Wonderful Reunion
By Bill Cloie
During the Oct. 31-Nov. 1 Home
coming weekend graduate and un
dergraduate Fijis and their fami
lies gathered at the Lambda-Iota
chapter house for three days of re
newing friendships and having a
fine time.
The weekend was kicked off by
a Friday evening get-together at
which the grads had an opportuni
ty to see the new house decora
tions and to meet the new Phi Gam
ma Delta pledge class.
Saturday's activities began with
an informal open house for all
followed by a buffet luncheon be
fore the game. The Homecoming
game is, of course, the highlight
of the weekend. Illinois, with Dick
Butkus and Company, invaded the
Purdue stadium this year. Butkus
and his teammates were tough but
our Boilermakers fought back
strongly, aided by Fijis Randy Minniear, Gordon Teter, Jim Hales,
Doug Holcomb, Bob Mangene, and
Rick Puthoff.

many unique and varied displays.

Homecoming Committee, summed
it up by saying, "\Ve were all
