PHI GAMS ON CAMPUS
Theta Deuteron Chapter made great strides this
spring in the area of campus leadership. John Halliday '89 ran a successful campaign for Senior Class
President. Chip Ulrich '89 also was successful in his
quest for Inter Fraternity Council Secretary. When
the caucus for the Greek Party was called to elect
members for the Wesleyan Council for Student Af
fairs, Phi Gamma Delta attended in force. This
resulted in the election of seven brothers to the
council; Dave Dickey and Jeremy Schaeffer '90,
Rob Ferguson, Jefferson Guthrie, John Hess, Scott
Snyder, Brooks Thomas '91. This increased role of
the brothers in campus activities will ensure the
success of Phi Gamma Delta in the future of Ohio
Wesleyan University.
FIJI HOOPS
1988 proved to be a successful year for the Theta
Deuteron Intramural Basketball team. The starting
team consisted of sophomores Eric Hick, Jim Croner,
Dave Dickey, juniors Joe Murray and Steve Croner.
These starters played well together and gave the team
a good chance of capturing the championship. The
starting team was supported by a strong bench lead by
sophomores Chris Callahan, Matt Curtis, and junior
Jim Redfern. Lead by the scoring of Eric Hick and
Jim Croner, FUl finished the regular season with a 52 record. Two of those victories were against topranked ATO and Air Bishop which earlier gave FIJI
its only two losses. The team entered the play-offs
with good momentum and won easily in the first
round over Sigma Chi 73-53. In the quarter finals,
FIJI met Phi Kappa Psi who were the defending
champions. In a tough battle, FIJI lost 69-68 on a last
second shot by Phi Psi.
Though the loss was a disappointment to the
team, the members of the 1988 team look forward to
next season. We feel that we will be in strong
contention next year for the Intramural Basketball
Championships.
Fraternally,
John Halliday
Eric Hick
Matt Curtis
