GIMLET LEADERSHIP HONORARY RESTOP-ED THANKS TO PHI GAMS
The Gimlet
Leadership Honorary, a Purdue tradition for over
60 years, fell on hard times in 1986.
The organization once
committed to promoting gre-^ii lei-Tiership on campus had become a
fraternity drinking club.
After an unfortunate incident where
several Gimlet members were arrested by the West Lafayette Police
for public
intoxication,
the
Purdue
Dean
of
Students Office
called for the dissolution of the society.
Brothers Dan Kelly'89, Nick Deets'B9, and Peter Kingma'89
were concerned that an important Purdue tradition might forever
fade.
There is a great need for an organization at Purdue that
promotes leadership among fraternity men. They took it upon them

constitution, the mission statements, and the pledgeship program,
and have secured faculty support. They hope to restore Gimlet to
full status by the end of the year.
