the Oakton Methodist Church in Oakton ,Virginia....the 4th of July was somev;hat disorganized as the holiday fell on a V^ednesday....my fault as we didn't
have things too organized down here...if you plan on catching the Sept 8
football game against W&M let us know and we'11 start reserving tickets for
the fraternity...you have to pay the $8 but you get a refund when you register
...Brady's Sign Service is doing pretty well...he even bought a crane truck..
...v/hew,..Morgan with his bad hip got his commission in the Air Force...he's
in Europe right now ripping it up till he reports for duty in Sept
''safe motorist" Dix didn't fair too well in court on the Sth of July... judge
found him. guilty and fined his fanny...a.in't'it a bitch....he °s in the process
of appealing the verdict....rumor has it that old Bob didn't fair too well
in a slight tassle last week...how are those black eyes Bob?....Betty and Dave
Russell will be late moving into their new house...with the weather being bad
they have gotten a bit behind schedule...sorry about all the typing errors...
your fearless leader John Hughes is doing the typing...our regards to Kent
for the unrestricted use of his typewriter too....seems that Hughes took it
to summer school with him and left Kent back in Fairfax....speaking of brothers
that v/e don't see running around campus too much, John Price made it back;
Jeff Duncan is still here trying....Don VFnittaker is living in the house while
he's down here for flying classes for rote....Ed Merwin is trying to live in
Barney's old room...he got around to painting it....Mike Mays is working at
Corning and Ranny is here but we can't figure out what he's doing....oh, Kent
lives at the house during the day and then disappears at night..v^e think he"
school.ing it but we aren't too sure..., .The Fiji done went before the city
planners yesterday and passed.... next is the building commission and then
council...that should be the second or fourth week in August.....Ronnie Hill
lost his scholarship on account of he sort of botched his grades spring quarter
......bummer.,.speaking of bummers, the overall fraternity average for Fiji
is a scant 2.25?......ahhhhhhh, could be lots better.,...the jackets that we
ordered are in and waiting for you after Doug Painte-r picks them up....Bill
Echelberger has a surprise for us when we all ..come back in the fail....if
its som.ething from his handiwork with that art talent of his you can bet on
a goodie...,i'm. selling the dune buggy-anjAone v^ho knows of anybody interested
call me collect-I'm asking $1,800...,.Fiji Academy is August 12-15....all you
delegates get down here by Saturday night so we can plan some strategies...
the bus leaves early Sunday morning....since we're all paying for our guys
to go, lets get interested in some new ideas....if you want any special
questions answered- just write to the house in care of John Hughes and he'll
come back from Kentucky with the answer...by the way John has already moved
into the house...if you want to get a hold of him or any of the house brothers
call 552-4251....that's John's private phono...Meg's Dad is in bad shape
health-wise 0...they operated on him last week and it was pretty touch and go
- v/e've both been awfully busy driving back to Pennsylvania
just one of
those things, I guess
hard on the schoolwork though

\r\nhe didn't quite wake it back into school so he's down here for second session
,,,! .get the feeling that he really wants to get in this fraternity .maybe it
would be food if v;e al] took a new look at him in the fall...another rough
subject is this homecoming stuff- its the 6th of October which makes things
rough,,.if you have any ideas for a float;let, me know...and if some of you
can got down here early to help build, that would be appreciated too...lets
plan on ma.king this homecoming as good as last year's was....since school
won't be in full swing we should have plenty of time to"get it on" with all
you grads that drop into town... something else that is a rough subject,..,
and that's this issue about money,, alot of you dudes havf en't paid yo.ur dues
.,.and we need the money bad.,,Brad just m,ade the payments and we are at less
than $100,,,,to all of you who have :paid up....many thanks- to the rest of
you,,,,don't expect to walk into this house fall quarter unless you have some
money in your hand with Bob Dix's name on it.,.,that's the rule folks
either you have the summer dues in your hand or you don't com.e neirr this place
,.,,,and that goes for any debts incurred spring quarter,,..more v/ill com>e on
this later- I'll send everybody a notice as to how much they owe before you
all leave j^-our homes to come back to school...Brad Abramsssays that in 2 more
payments the color TV will be ours....whew, that's another creditor off our
back...if y'all have any people you would like to see us rush in the fall
or winter, .get their names and addresses to Curt Allison",215 Lynnhaven Dr.
Hampton, Va,,,,..rookie brother Curt is really going places with his rush
program,..and if you have any ideas fonfeocial activities get in contact with
John Price at IO30I Tecumseh Lane Fairfa.x, Va. 22030....And the last and most
im.portant nam.e to remember is Mike McCormac...in case you've forgotten, he's
our Scholarship Chairman,.,.he's been waiting for your grades;that's the
cumulative totals and the totals for spring quarter....he was supposed to ' ■
have had them, by July 15 so lets get a move on....he's in Richmond, Va. 23221,.
220 Roseneath .Road.....lets help him out and mail those grades to him as
soon as possible
why don't you write them down and do it right novi
Well gang I guess its time to hit the trail..,.come on down whenever you
car-try and get here on Friday nights because we have weekly rotating happy
hours-yippeeeeeeeeee
and to all you bums who are just
laying around the pool this summer....keep soaking up those suds..,oops!,,,
