NEW OFFICERS
KEXEHAl HEADOUARTERS
lEAAHiiicTQit. a. c, asoi*
With the beginning of another year, the brothers of Upsilon Sigma have
elected new officers to guide us through 1970. We feel that these men will
do a find job in the upcoming year.
President - William Tennent, '71
Treasurer - Bradford Bell, '72
Recording Secretary - Richard Mclnturff, '72
Corresponding Secretary - Richard Taylor, '72
Historian - Hugh Newberry, '72
Our whole-hearted thanks and congratulations to those cabinet members that
did such a great job last year.
NEW MEMBERS
On February first, we initiated three new brothers. The three new men
are Mike Crum, Joe Dietz, and Chuck Riddle. We stress quality and with these
new actives we feel that we have found it. Mike Crum, '71 is from Las Vegas,
Nevada, and is majoring in business educaiton. He will be helping Brad keep
the books straight. Joe Dietz, a wildlife major, is from Ogden, Utah. He is
our new Graduate Relations Chairman. Joe hopes to graduate in '73. Chuck
Riddle, '73 from Stuart, Florida, is majoring in liberal studies. He will be
helping Rick Mclnturff in publishing the "Golden Spike Fiji."
ENGAGED
Miss Sherry Lynn Downs, Lambda Delta Sigma and Hugh Newberry will be
married.
No date has been set.
\r\nBAKER CUP
We are trying our best to keep the "Baker Cup." By concentrating our
efforts in "Service Projects" and "Chapter Dinners," we think that we can win
the trophy again.
Last week sixteen of the brothers went to Sunshine Terrace, a rest home,
and visited with the patients. One of the patients challenged Hugh Newberry
and Bob Reid to a game of checkers and beat them both every game. All of the
brothers had a good time and the patients seemed to enjoy themselves also.
This year we are having guests at our "Chapter Dinners." So far, Helen
Lundstrum, Dean of Women; "Red" Burnett, our faculty advisor; and Dr. Bergesen
have visited us.
by for dinner.
We would appreciate it if you would give us a call and stop
Dinner is at 6:00 every Thursday.
Bring the wife and kids
and have a good time.
RUSH AND PLEDGES
Because half of our pledge class went active, we are holding a postinitiation rush. A. H. Berry has been organizing the parties and has been
doing an excellent job. We have extended three bids and are considering three
or four more men. We could use some help in finding new men. If you know
of any good men, let us know and we'll get in touch with them.
DONATIONS
We would like to thank "Fat Jack" Aldrich for sending us Twenty-Five
dollars and Jim Mackey for sending us Twenty dollars. Our special thanks
goes to Mr. R. G. Nace of Ashbury Park, New Jersey for sending us a five year
subscription to "LOOK" magazine.
Thanks again Graduate Brothers and friends I
