Because of the many inquiries that
we have received as to what has been
done to improve the chapter house I
will briefly describe "Old Phi" in its
new light.
The new addition cost around $150,000
financed by a twenty-year mortgage
on the structure. The mortgage pay
ments are met by a building fee paid
by new initiates and by donations from
our alums through the Alumni Fund.
The building consists of three floors.
The first floor consists of a recreation
room with a ping-pong table and a pool
table donated by Mr. and Mrs. Francis
Cannon of Reno, Nev. The pool cues and
wall rack were given to us by Mr. and
Mrs. K. W. Given in memory of their
departed son, Boyd Given, MU IOTA
'68. The other half of the first floor is
the living quarters for our housemoth

The second and third floors provide
ten three-man study rooms and two
shower rooms. The hallways are car
peted and the rooms are modern and
spacious providing excellent study at
mosphere as well as a closeup view of

us by beating our whole house average
of last year and finishing third for pledge
classes on campus with a 2.51.
The
pledges were led by Bob Bohman, Rick
Reed, Doug Davey, Kermit Anderson,
and Mike Cimino. Next came the sopho
more class led by Gordon Matlock with
a 4.00, Dick White with 3.94, Bob Har

a 3.40. By averaging 2.94 the sopho
mores proved untrue the old adage
about the "sophomore slump." The ju

brought up the house average consider

through, averaging just above a 3.0,
giving our house a 2.743. This was only
