PHI GAM INTRAMURAL PARTICIPATION RATES HIGH—
Intramural sports is a major activity in every
attorney in the finn of Butler, Snow, O'Mara,
Fiji's schedule at the present time.
Stevens,
every brother is involved in a sport. Parti
cipation and success are words that best
describe Phi Gamma Delta's sports program.
That Fiji Bunch, the fraternity's number one
seeded team, has recently pulled off two major
victories in football. The Bunch upset Kappa
and
Cannada
in
Jackson.
Phil
is
primarily involved in civil litigation.
When not busy in the courtroom, Phil
enjoys participating in outdoor sports, parti
cularly golf and softball.
He is single.
Phil gets together often with fellow Phi
Gams, especially those in the Jackson area.
He is a member of Mississippi Fijis, Inc.
While an active member of Sigma Mu, Phil

Virginia to Sacoma, Washington in the near
future.
He, his

mid-December. Norman presently works for the
Army in Military Intelligence.
DAVID WESLEY ('74), of Tupelo is present
ly working for the Bank of Mississippi. He
enjoys hunting for quail and fishing.

THOMAS MIZE ('75), is in the process of
moving to Flora where he will work as the bank
vice president there. His wife, Lynn, will
join him after she finishes school this fall.

Swimming, water polo,
tennis singles, and cross country are sports
that the Fiji brothers have completed. Volley
ball' is the next sport on the agenda.
The
participation and success enjoyed by the Phi
Gams will continue as the year progresses.
PLEDGE EDUCATION PROGRAM UNVEILS FIJI HISTORY
AND REQUIREMENTS--The pledge class of Phi
Gamma Delta is in the process of learning the
history and requirements of the fraternity.

Speed, Pledge
Educator, and
Mitch
Mitchell, Assistant Pledge Educator, have been
hard at work teaching the pledges the social
graces, proper dress, the development of
fraternities, and the history of Phi Gamma
Delta. Speakers have frequented the class.
Dr. Bill Parrish, Purple Legionnaire, spoke on
the prestige and importance of being a good
pledge. Phil Posey, a brother of the Sigma Mu
Chapter, gave a talk on Parliamentary proce
dure. June Carpenter introduced the pledges
to the social graces. Various books, such as.
Dress for Success, Purple Pilgrim, Amy Vandefbi11's
DAVID GADDIS ('74), was in Starkville
recently. He is presently farming in Forest,
Mississippi.
Sigma
Alpha Epsilon, the defending all-school champs,
was blasted by That Fiji Bunch by the score of

projects that the pledges are involved in. A
Big Brother-Little Brother canoe trip and a
pledge swap with Kappa Kappa Gamma have been
highlights of the Pledge Education Program,

BIG BROTHER-LITTLE BROTHER CANOE TRIP TERMED
$UCCES$FUL--A canoe trip involving Big Brothers
and Pledges was set up by Pledge Educator John
Speed for the weekend of October 12-14. 28

The first night, Friday, was spent in Jackson.
Various brothers opened their homes for places
to spend the night. The Mississippi State

the

tickets and don't wish to purchase them please

duate possible at the Regency Dinner November
17.

STUDENT GOVERNMENT—Sigma Mu has continued to
be well represented in student government.

the recent elections, Gordon Stewart, Mitch
Mitchell, and Max Bowman were elected Day
Student Senators.

Dugger dorms.
In the IFC, the Phi Gam's have

Little, Wesley Griffith, Robby Gathings, and

SCHOLARSHIP--Robby Gathings, the Scholarship
Chairman, is bringing speakers to the Phi Gam
meals.
President McComas and Ron Polk are
scheduled in the near future. A steak dinner
is planned at mid-term for all Phi Gams with
a 3.5 or better.
Two Scholarship awards will
be given this year for most improved GPA and
