We have had the pleasure of working with our chapter's leadership for the last
two years and look forward to another year of service. From our
perspective, the gentlemen that are living at 600 University Avenue are
doing exceptionally well.
If you've seen the winter issue of the Phi Gamma Delta magazine, Mu Iota re
ceived third place for the Cheney Cup, Honorable Mention for the Baker
Cup, Second Place for the Brightman Trophy, Honorable Mention for the Jordan
Bowl, Third Place for the Coon Plaque, and eight certificates of superior
academic achievement. Also, Jim Hill received the Durrance Award for his
work with Mu Iota as the fraternity's most outstanding Purple Legionnaire,
and Brother Jim Glenny received Honorable Mention for the Coulter Cup Award.
We should all be very proud of these accomplishments, and recognize that
this truly represents a well-rounded fratemity chapter. Our pride is also
extended on behalf of the gentlemen for again achieving first on the campus
in grades with a 3.01 GPA.
In reviewing this year I think we can honestly say that Mu Iota enjoyed a
good rush. They've had good balance of activities on the campus and in
sports. They have established some reasonable goals and objectives for
themselves, and have been able to achieve most of their goals.
The house, thanks to AKE, is in good shape. Although there is still a
great deal to be done, I think we can say the house is physically in great
shape. They held a successful retreat last fall, as they have for the last
three years, which in our opinion has led to the successes that they have

KRUGER'S LETTER CONTINUED
enjoyed this year, and surely again next year. One ofthose successes was a mission statement that was
written at the retreat three years ago.
We are a group ofgentlemen bound together byfriendship and similar aspirations. We are individuals striving to be successful
scholars and respectable leaders in all aspects oflife. We are a balancedfraternity.
We create well-rounded men by pursuing knowledge and strivingfor excellence. Through our values, we set standards at the
University ofIdaho and our respective communities.
We are built on secrecy, teaching us that trust and persistence are essential. Our strongfriendships stemfrom mutual and selfrespect. We maintain the traditions ofthe past while pursuing the visions ofthefuture.
In looking ahead,I think they have a few challenges that they will face, and will overcome. The first is
the fratemity-wide drinking policy, which states that there will be no alcoholic beverages consumed in the
house. The second challenge is the one that they face every year in rush. There is a portion ofthe newslet
ter that touches on this. I would urge every member to assist Mu Iota with a small check to help with the
1998 fall rush.
Best wishes to all of you from the gentlemen at 600 University Avenue and
Fraternally,
