Zeta Chapter will to pay a special
tribute to Brother Louis A. "Bud"
Mangels '56 at Pig Dinner on April 7.
Bud currently serves as president of
the trustees of our treasured
Beechwood Educational Foundation.
Our BEF, founded almost 20 years
ago, has accomplished so much in
its short existence, and Bud has done
so much for his Fraternity. Under the
direction of Brother Mangels, 199
undergraduate members of Zeta
Chapter have received:
• Nearly $150,000 in scholarship
grants;
• Nearly $250,000 has been dedicated
to improvements to the chapter
house to support educational
initiatives;
• And more than $67,000 has been
provided for chapter operational
expenses to support educational and
leadership training for its
undergraduates.
As of October 2000, 411 Zeta
Zeta brothers celebrate at State Day 2001.

THE HOOSIER FIH
'Legacy' Campaign a Huge Success
Zeta Chapter can be very proud of
its graduate brothers who have
contributed so unselfishly to the
Legacy of Excellence Campaign.
Since its inception in 1996, more than
$500,000 has been collected from
pledges exceeding $700,000.
Most of these funds have been used
to make various improvements to the
chapter house. A portion of the funds
will be used to reduce our current
mortgage debt.
Currently, Beechwood is, without
question, the finest fraternity facility
at Indiana University. Fiji undergradu
ates can boast about having the finest
computer lab on campus. Other im
Fiji graduates contributing $5,000
or more to the Legacy of Excellence
Campaign have been duly recognized
as significant donors. Their names

during the past five years include add

The chapter house is prepared to serve
Fiji undergraduates for many years
into the future.

Fijis Remain Involved
with Dance Marathon
A weekend that consists of 36 hours without sleep? This
can mean only one thing—lU Dance Marathon.
Last October, the lU Dance Marathon celebrated it's 10th
anniversary. Dance Marathon is a 36-hour event that
features dancing, live bands, food and speakers on the lU
campus each fall. The marathon benefits Riley Hospital for
Children in Indianapolis. In 2000, $402,000 was donated to
the hospital.
Since its inception, Fiji has played in integral part of
organizing the event. Last year, brothers Ian Essling '02,
Chris Hopp '01, Justin Padgett '02 and Andrew Wilson '02
