\r\nGMI TODAY
For those graduate brothers who don't know it, the A-section brothers are spending their
summer in school. It wouldn't be so bad if we had a pool to use on the hot days. Instead,
the Alumni Association built a bell tower. It's kind of rough doing a swan dive off the bell
tower. They built a dorm a couple of years ago. It made it really easy to rush freshmen. Mow
the upper classmen axe living in the dorm. Did you hear that they moved the library? Yeahl
They're putting it in the drafting area. Of course, it's taking two years to finish the project.
Mho knows where they'll put the drafting area. Nol No! The faculty lounge is definitely out.
ReallyI We don't mind the construction. The plywood partitions are great for grafitti walls
and murals of sex symbols. There's a book store in the campus center. But, since it's only
oi)en during solar eclipses, you can't get all the needed books till fifth week. A student can't
pick up an update anymore. You have to read it from within a glass case. You think that's bad?
Try to find a bathroom on the second floor.'There are none. Last week alone, three people had
accidents running to the bathrooms upstairs on the third floor. What? Us complain! Hell no!
We love all these hassles.
After all, is this not General hotors?
SPORTS
GMI has no intercollegiate athletics, but our intramviral sports program is very competitive.
We play 3 major team sports here: softball, basketball, and volleyball.
In addition, there a,Te
a number of indivifliial sports, including tennis, track, wrestling, golf, bowling, swimming, pool,
ping-pong, eind cards.
Hie Alpha Gamma chapter here has always been heavily involved in the GMI sports program.
Earlier this semester, we participated in softball, and our team had a 2-2 record that we. plan to
improve on next season. The basketball tournament is played the second half of this semester, and
our first team is 3~1 and looking good for a hot finish.
The GMI track meet, held August 20, was dominated by FIJI'S. Muscleman pledge Dan Helni led
the way by winning the shot-put and the discus. Another freshman pledge, Greg Durski, won the
high jump, and the FIJI relay team electrified the crowd with a resounding win in the ^0 relay.
One other big sports event of the semester, our annvial clash with SAS in flag football, is
coming up September 1^. We are the defending champs, and hope to make it two in a row this year.
In short, -Idiei Alpha Gamma Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta has a strong tradition of athletic
excellence, and with an athletic pledge class this year we are continuing that tradition.
