Planned
An archive room designed to pre
serve minutes, pictures, and other ar
ticles of historical significance for the
Alpha Phi chapter is in the planning
stages. After discovering the enormous
amount of material that was previously
being neglected in the basement, the
chapter realized that an archive room
was long overdue. With the help of
brothers Keith Yamada and Kasey
Cassidy, the archive room will soon
become a reality.

1987 got off to a bang this year.
Thirty-five out of the 50 brothers who
moved into 707 this September had
never lived in the house before,and an
ALPHA PHUI NEWS
The Alpha Phiji News is published
by the Alpha Phi Chapter of Phi

called the New Alpha Phi Chapter; new

structure, and more importantly, in
terms of a new attitude which does not
look good, and our main problem is

With over fifty percent of the broth

This year's philanthropic activities
have begun with more vigor than can be
remembered from recent years. The
actives and the pledges have contrib
uted a perfect mark of 100% participa
tion as well as having displayed a great
amount of enthusiasm toward the phi
lanthropy program.
During the week of October 26 to 30,
the AlphaPhijis sold pumpkins to bene

When someone says,"Enjoy those
four years of college, they're the best
years of your life!," it is bard to know
wbat that person has in mind when he
says that. Are those "best years" in
relation to the good aspects of college,
or the bad aspects? If the good,then 1
am not too concerned. College at its
bestis allowing me to have an awesome
amount of fun and to experiment aca
demically and socially. Even ifthe rest
of my life is significantly less great, it
will still be a great life. At its worst,
college has put me through trials which
1 do not care to repeat If the rest of my
life is worse than this, well,I'm in for a
rough time.
"As a college student, I am full of
questions which I cannot answer..."
Perhaps, when people refer to col
lege as 'The best years of your life,"
they have in mind both the good times
and the bad. The positive experiences
in college seem great in contrast to the
terribleness ofthe negative ones. Keep
ing in mind both kinds keeps both fresh
and memorable in this way. 1 feel that
many of these experiences, both good
and bad,1 have felt before college, but
never at the full intensity with which 1
feel them here. Perhaps the shock of
this intensity,experienced for the first
