PRESIDENT'S REPORT
Hello again from the Undergraduate Chapter here in Hyde Park.
Autumn quarter is
nearing an end and what a quarter it has been.
Homecoming was a big success as the
Maroons brought home a victory.
Afterwards, many graduate brothers, undergraduates,
and parents came over to the Chapter House for some good food, good conversation, and a
great time. Our Halloween party raised a record dollar amount for the Child Care Society, an
accomplishment that will undoubtedly give us a head start towards the Dean's Cup for Social
Service. In addition to other parties, we have also held events with the Sisters of Alpha
□micron Pi and Kappa Alpha Theta.
We now have six new additions tri thty Fiji family.

Six new pledges were sworn in this
With the guidance of pledg«^^ffamers^j0ave Anderson '88 , Mitch Kapetan '89 , and
Brent Hieggelke '88, they should rera—ottCgreat.
The Chapter also has a large freshman
rush list and anticipates a large pledge class next quarter to fill the gap that will be left
when many seniors graduate this spring.
Our annual Christmas Party for the Child Care Society is scheduled for December 4 at the
Chapter House.
This is probably the most enjoyable event of the quarter, seeing the kids
receiving their gifts from Santa Claus.
The children will spend the afternoon with the
brothers

The departing cabinet may be leaving office, but we will do our best to ensure a smooth
transition so that the new cabinet members can keep running with the progress of the
Chapter.
It has been a pleasure working with all of the graduate members, a relationship
that has grown and, will continue to grow. (jMnall^ it has been a good year, and I hope to
keep working alongside of the graduates of Chi~Upsilon for many years to come

Field Secretary Matthew M. Amend/visited the-Clmpter on Oct. 25, 1987.He commended us
on our FIJI hospitality and Chapter tone.
HeVgited) our Friday night formal cocktails and
dinner. Social Service program. Cabinet unity, and compliance to Fraternity laws as our
strong points.
He also found our committee structure, graduate relations, post initiation
education and overall brother participation as areas that are sufficient but need
improvement. The Chapter plans to continue its strong points and implement new ideas to
overcome
our
weaknesses.
