Over the past few years, Chi Mu has

new members. This fall CHI MU is
proud to welcome 13 fresh faces into the
debt. House Corp. was on the move
again to help out the chapter. They
totally refinanced the house and raised
enough money to do major renovation
around the place.
These improvements include new
stalls and showers in the bathrooms, re
painting of the house exterior, relandscaping of the front yard, and many
other things too numerous to mention.
This complete dedication by our
House Corporation has done more than
just physically lift XM, it has made
chapter tone skyrocket. This boost in
spirit has helped the FIJI reputation on
campus. So, as you can see, the hard
work of a few loyal Phi Gams has placed
Chi Mu on an upward spiral.
On behalf of the active members, I
would like to thank House Corp. for
their outstanding, and very much
appreciated accomplishments.

Dave was the top selection as a short stop to represent the United States in the 1987
Pan American Games in Indianapolis. Not only did he play his position in the excellent
fashion he has grown accustomed to, but he cranked a home run as well.
Silvestri remains one of MIZZOU's top athletes and plans to enter the major leagues
after his college career.

changes and, of course, new faces.
Among these faces are the Fall pledge
class of 1987. It's never good to see old
friends and brothers graduate and go
their own ways, however, it is comfor
ting to see a group of new guys entering
XM who you feel will carry on the Phi
Gam traditions and ways. This year's
pledge class is that type of group. Of the
twenty-five pledges, less than 5 had
g.p.a.'s in high school below 3.0 on a
4.0 scale. Also, the majority of new
pledges held high leadership positions
and played in a variety of varsity sports.
Our 1987 Fall pledge class consists of
these fine young men:
Robert Branstetter (Bowling
Green, MO) '91, David Burke
(Monett, MO)'91, Bryce Birdsong
(Excelsior Springs, MO)'91, Brad

Springs, MO)'91, Andrew Jordan
(Houston, MO) '91, Eric Van

and Herb Reynolds (Salem, MO)
'89.
Not only do we have a new pledge class
this semester, but a new pledge trainer as
well. Brother Paul Holmes, a junior, has
filled that spot. Brother Holmes has
planned many goals for the semester to
better prepare the pledges for initiation,
and being a better active. Some of these
goals are a 90% + initiation rate, more
communication between the actives and
pledges, and a move involved Freshman
Education Board (F.E.B.) to help the
pledges learn not only scholastics, but
learn about Phi Gamma Delta. Some of
these goals may be hard to obtain, but
Holmes thinks that potential is definitely
there.
We, the active chapter, are proud of
the new fall pledge class, and can only
hope that they will live up to our expec
tations. And maybe someday all 25 will
understand why we are as proud of Phi
Gamma Delta as we are.

\r\nADDITION TO LAW SCHOOL
Within the last few years here at MIZZOU, the University has progressed on
a number of expansion and facelift pro
jects such as Brady Commons(which in
cludes the University Bookstore, student
media ceter, and a cafeteria), an exten
sion onto the south side of Ellis Library,
and a number of new parking garages.
But the most recent construction site
on campus is a new bunding for the Law

School. Construction is located south
across the street from Jesse Hall, next
to the Arts and Science building. The
project started early last spring (of
1987), and completion is expected next
summer (of 1988).
Southern section of new Law School building.
The law school will receive approx
imately 150 student applicants as usual,
and does not plan to increase its facul
ty. The building, 2/3 of which will be
devoted to library facilities, simply
represents an overcrowding of the 3
buildings presently used (Tate, Lowry,
and Townsend Halls).

After an enjoyable summer, it's a
thrill to be back on campus and return
to XM. We are fired up for the events
of the early fall such as FIJI ISLAND,
which is still a party like never before,
