Pig Dinner
May 2
The International Headquarters staff
aren't the only ones with a new location.
The new Phi Gamma Delta house at the
corner of Peachtree Avenue and 6th
offers the Theta Tau brothers larger
common areas, more bedrooms, and
the possibility of someday buying the
house. If you haven't seen it, “Come
home” to Tech for Homecoming ’86,

Grads Welcomed at ’86 Pig Dinner
Thirty-one graduate brothers (over
30% of the graduate roll) returned to
Cookeville the weekend of May 3 to
celebrate Pig Dinner ’86, marking the
seventh anniversary of Delta Theta Chi
(May 3, 1979), the local predecessor to
Theta Tau Chapter, and the fifth anni-
versary of the chapter (February 28,
1981).
Friday evening the Little Sisters
hosted a reception for the grads, their
wives, and undergrads. This was the
first opportunity for many of them to see
the new chapter house at 527 North
Peachtree Avenue.
Saturday morning began with do-
nuts and juice at the house followed by
meetings of the House Corporation
Board of Directors and of the Board of
Chapter Advisers. (see related articles
inside)
In a change this year the banquet
was moved to a dinner to allow for
more time both for the banquet pro-
gram and for the golf tournament. Over
50 graduate and undergraduate brothers
played in the four man scramble at
Belle Acres Golf Club. As usual, no one
is quite sure who turned in the best
round of the afternoon, but there can be
no doubt that the best “drive” went to
Martin Hunt '85 who drove his cart into
the cart driven by David Olive ’85 and
Stan Hardaway ’85, resulting in a
cracked fiberglass frame. It should be
noted that Martin made a return trip to
Cookeville the next week to repair the
cart himself.
The Pig Dinner banquet was held
again this year at the Cookeville Coun-
try Club. Mitch Simpson ’86, Corre-
sponding Secretary, serving as sym-
posiarch, added a special (and often
humorous) touch to this year’s dinner
by reading excerpts from past chapter

Theta Tau Chapter at Tennessee Tech 8
Daniel Ray accepting the charter
A DREAM COME TRUE
February 28, 1981 was the day for the Delta Colony at
Tennessee Tech. For on that date the colony became
the 116th chapter of the Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta,
carrying the chapter name of Theta Tau.
Activities for the installation weekend started with
registration on Friday at the chapter house. At 8 that
evening 54 men received the white star as they were
pledged into the Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta.
Concluding the evening there was a Smoker at the
chapter house.
Saturday morning, February 28, in two separate
initiation ceremonies, 49 colony brothers became
Brothers of the Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta and of
the Theta Tau Chapter. At noon, a luncheon hosting
University administrators and Greek presidents was
held in the OVC Room in the University Center.
Eighteen months had passed since colonization on
Tech’s campus. Twenty-two months had passed since
the founding of Delta Theta Chi, the local fraternity
which became a Delta Colony.
The feelings of the colony as February 28 drew near
could best be expressed by an excerpt from the
“petition for Chapter” — “In only a short period of time
the Delta Colony of Tennessee Tech has made for itself
ahistory of which to be proud. However, we will not rest
on our laurels but continue to strive to become the best
fraternity we can. The past is there to encourage us, to
give us confidence, and to say ‘carry on’ so that the
future may be even brighter.”
\r\nHAPPY 5TH ANNIVERSARY

charter February 28, 1981. These pages in commemoration
