“15 Year Reunion a Tremendous Success for Epsilon Chi”
The return of the traditional Phi-Gam Norris Pig Dinner and the commemoration of Epsilon Chi’s 15th birthday was a
great time for all who were able to attend. The combination of warm Spring sunshine, some sporting volleyball between
the grads and undergrads, a touch of our favorite ‘social-elixir’, and down-right great friends added-up to something just
short of a religious experience. Well, almost!
Seriously though, the weekend was valuable to the undergraduates in that we were able to meet brothers with a real
perspective on some of the issues that confront us. Things haven't changed that much since you guys graduated. And
it's sometimes nice to hear those ‘past perspectives’ on issues that up to then the undergrads thought were uniquely their
own... In the same light, the undergraduates and pledges were especially impressed with the brotherhood exemplified by
all of the graduate brothers. It's ‘fraternally inspiring’ to know that the graduate brothers of Epsilon Chi care so much about
their chapter, and its long-run stability. Thank you brothers.
During the dinner, brother William ‘Billy’ Martin Ill, our fraternity’s Executive Director, and Dr. Drury Bagwell, ex-UWEC
Dean of Students, shared their perspectives on the future of fraternities in general, and the founding days of Epsilon Chi.
A very hearty “Thanks!” must be given to both of them for traveling all the way to Eau Claire. Also, thanks to all of you
“™> graduates who contributed to the Epsilon Chi Endowment and Computer funds during your visit! The computer fund is up
to approximately $1,000 and a system will be purchased in the very near future! Take care brothers! Hope to see you all
at this Summer's Reunion, July 10, 11, 12! =

Will Porter ’87
\r\nMESSAGE FROM
THE PRESIDENT
Greetings, from the Epsilon Chi Chapter of Phi Gamma
Delta. Your chapter is ever on an incline and is still going
higher. A great deal of credit goes to the undergraduates, but
you as graduates have shown tremendous support.
The graduate support includes: a more involved Board of
Chapter Advisors, increase attendance to undergraduate/
graduate events, and the monetary support has increased.
Currently, the BCA members have been assigned an under-
graduate cabinet member that contacts them bi-monthly. The
program has a strong start!
As most of you know, the 15 year reunion was a big
success. All graduates were urged to come back and see their
chapter. All chapter aspects are strong, but changes have
occurred since 1975. We are moving into the computer gener-
ation! According to Brother Frank's last letter, we are purchas-
ing a chapter computer. The computer is on its way; it will aid
our chapter in many services. The monthly newsletter which
was of interest with graduates at the reunion will now be
possible.
In conclusion, | don’t see how our roller coaster ride could
plummet downward; we are starting to get more of you in-
volved with PGD again. The Epsilon Chi chapter is your
chapter; we will grow with your continued support.
Perge! Fraternally

TREASURER’S
REPORT
Greetings Brothers,
After holding the treasurer's office for almost an entire
semester now, | feel very good about the progress Epsilon Chi
has continued to make. This is a great tribute to a solid cabinet
of 5 men working together instead of the leadership of only one
or two. The members at large have pulled more than their
share of the weight.
This year, | tried a new approach to the treasurer's position.
With so many of our brothers paying for their tuition out of their
own pockets, it soon became apparent that payment plans
were needed to those special cases that required extra time to
pay off their obligations to the Fraternity. They responded
admirably, both in keeping current and in getting ahead when
they could. To offset the slowed inflow of cash, we worked
harder than ever at fundraising for the chapter.
This year our biggest money maker was Spring Break which
netted a profit of $3500! Part of the money was used to lower
the cost of the trips to an average of less than $45 per person
for the 14 brothers that went to South Padre Is. in Texas to
enjoy the weather and promote Flul.
The rekindled Graduate support has also been well-noticed
and grealty appreciated. This is due to an outstanding turnou/
for the 15th Year Reunion and in particular, Graduate brother
John Frank. Had it not been for John’s letter to our fellow
Graduates, we would not have been able to purchase the new
computer that should be sitting in the chapter office by the time
this newsletter reaches you.
A special thanks goes to Graduate brother Randy Sparling
who acts as my financial advisor on the BCA. His support has
enabled me to carry out my duties with a great deal of success.
Randy truly exemplified the adage that “Phi Gamma Delta is
not for college days alone.”
| am very optimistic about the future of Phi Gamma Delta at
Eau Claire, we have the dreams that see the future and the
power to make it happen.
Perge! Fraternally yours,
Todd Eberhardt '90

\r\nPhi Gamma Delta serves not only as a social fraternity, but
also as an educator for its members. One of the many tools
which our international fraternity uses for this is the Fiji
Academy. oom”
The Academy is a week-long series of seminars which will
help train officers and memers to better run each chapter.
Among the things covered are Rush finances, fundraising,
graduate relations and ritual.
In August of this year our chapter will send at least four
members and officers of Epsilon Chi to the 20th Fiji academy
in Columbus, Ohio.
Thanks to the brothers who plan to participate - you are the
present and future leaders of our chapter.
Perge! Fraternally,

Pledge education is well underway and the pledges are
doing great. Weekly quizzes have been given from the PUR-
PLE PILGRIM and for the most part all are doing exceptionally
well. John and | have started a work/study program for the
pledges, which entails an hour of mild work around the house
(answering the phone, washing dishes, taking out the garbage
etc...) and an hour of homework. As we went over our local
history and made reference to some of the graduates, many
found a clear picture to the past after meeting a good percen-
tage at the reunion. They all enjoyed seeing graduates come
back and enjoy a weekend at the house, as did |. | think it gave
them a part of Fiji that they normally would not have seen. We
are all looking forward to seeing you again. : -

HOUSE MANAGER’S
REPORT
Dear Brothers,
Spring is upon us. Time for short skirts, female sunbathers,
good times at the beach, spring semester cramming for finals...
and lease signing for the coming year.
Our landlord, in his financial wisdom, has required that we
assure him of 14 full-year leases by June 1st. So far, we have
tentatively assigned 13' of them. In addition, the landlord has
proposed a rent increase of $16.50 per month per member with
a 10% discount of that amount if paid prior to the 7th of that
month.
With these conditions met, Dean has agreed to perform
certain improvements to the house and listed as conditions to
the lease. Here are a few of special note:
* House exisrmination service completed by June.
* Remodeling of backdoor entrance area.
* New combination screen/storm windows installed on those
windows not already having them.
* Locks installed on house common entrances.
There could, of course, always be more done to improve the
house but, under the circumstances, these improvements are
certainly a step in the right direction.
| hope that each of have the opportunity to meet again with
you Epsilon Chi undergraduate and graduate brothers during
our Summer Reunion. | also hope that a majority of the
improvements are completed before then for you to see.
If any of you have been House Manager's in the past, |
would greatly appreciate any input and suggestions that could
help. If you wish to call, my telephone number is
715-834-4733.
Here's hoping that you have a more than great summer and
that each of you can make it to Summer Reunion. You know
that you always have friends and a place to stay here at
Epsilon Chi.
Perge! Fraternally Yours

Note From
The Editor
This is the first protag | have created as Corresponding
Secretary. In this paper we paid tribute to all the graduate
brothers who built Epsilon Chi here at UW-Eau Claire. Seeing
it was our 15th Anniversary this year, | tried to spotlight all of
the graduates who sent in their graduate questionnaire. If you
were not listed, please send yours back so | can start on a
graduate directory for next year. Thanks a lot!
