MORTGAGE BURNING
AUGUST 8. 1987
We will celebrate paying off the final "balloon"
payment of the mortgage on the Fraternity
House the weekend of August 7-9, 1987.
This is an historic event in the history of the
Rho Alpha Chapter. The balloon payment has
been very much on our minds for the past three
years, and was the main reason that we have
issued the House Corporation Bonds. The second
mortgage on the House is scheduled to be paid
off in about a year, at which time we will only
oi-2 rruney to ourselves (in the form of the bonds.
Come celebrate with us!
Scheduled events for the weekend include:
Friday Night
— Arrival Party
Saturday, 10:00am - Joint BCA/House Corp Meeting
Saturday Afternoon - Tubing/Volleyball/etc.
Saturday Night
- Official Celebration Party
See you there!
\r\nHOUSE CORP PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
I am thrilled to report that once again you have come through
with fantastic support of our Rho Alpha Chapter. An additional
$5600 was raised this spring through bond sales, bringing our
two-year total to over $16,000. I want to thank everyone who has
played a part in our extremely successful bond campaign. All of
the officers of the House Corporation appreciate your investment
of time and/or money.
One individual who should be particularly recognized and thanked
is Andy Stowasser. Andy has held the position of Bond
.Administrator for the past two years. He has kept track of all
the bond holders, and has been responsible for sending out all
the bonds via certified mail. His letters to people unable to
attend Pig Dinner have generated at least $500 in extra bond
sales, Andy was also responsible for obtaining bids for last
surtuaer's electrical wiring improvements and over-seeing the 7/ork.
He will do this again this summer as we investigate installing a
new heating system. Hard work like Andy's, along with all of
your investments have enabled us to make much-needed House
improvements over the last two years.
And, of course, on August 7-8 we will celebrate "popping" the
balloon mortgage payment which has been hanging over our heads.
In addition to the celebration, we will have a joint House
Corp/BCA meeting Saturday morning at 10:00; main topics of
discussion will be the new heating system and the revised House
Corporation Constitution. I look forward to seeing you that
weekend.
Fraternally,
John Adamo, Chi, '82
REVISED HOUSE CORP. CONSTITUTION
The proposed House Corporation Constitution has undergone some
changes from the version proposed for the May meeting. The major
changes are:
1 - The House Corp Board will be expanded from the current
four officers by the addition of a board member in
charge of the House, one in charge of fund raising, and
one with duties as assigned by the President.
2 - All Rho Alpha Graduates in good standing will have a
vote in decisions.
3 - There will be no dues, but any Brother wishing to be
mailed agendas prior to meetings will be billed in
advance every six months for the const of the agendas.
Copies of the entire document will be available at the House
Friday, August 7, or you may call Danny Kallick at 703-931-3035
to have him mail you a copy.

\r\nHOUSE IMPROVEMENTS
Another significant House improvement this Spring was an almost
total remodeling of the downstairs bathroom. The floor, toilet,
sink, and vanity were all replaced. Thanks to the Undergrads who
worked on this project.
WEEKEND AT MYRTLE BEACH
Sun, Sand, and Scenery - you can find them all at Myrtle Beach,
SC; and Labor Day Weekend you can also find a group of Rho
Alpha's Graduate Brothers there. Nasty Jones is organizing this
trip which runs from t'riday, Sept 4 through Monday, Sept 7 and
includes the NASCAR race at Darlington on Sunday. Confirmed
attendees include Jon Parker, Paul Zawistowski. and Howard
"Groucho" Canada. You can call Nasty at 703-944-5416 for further
details.
IT'S FOOTBALL TIME
Tech plays at Miami on November 14 and Dana Hess is coordinating
plans for a group to spend that weekend in Fort Lauderdale to
insure that Rho Alpha is represented at the game. Dana's new
address is:
1813
Mt. Pisgah Ln, #11; Silver Spring, MD 20903
H: 301-439-8445
W: 202-394-1563
PURPLE LEGIONNAIRE
Danny Kallick, our Purple Legionnaire for the last several years,
is "retiring" this fall. The Purple Legionnaire is a Graduate
elected by the Undergraduate Chapter to serve as an advisor and
liason between the Chapter and Headquarters, he works more closely
with the Undergraduate Chapter than any other Graduate. Anyone
interested in the position may contact Danny or the House for
further information.
SOFTBALL
A number of Rho Alpha's Graduates who live in Northern Virginia
have put together a Softball team this summer. As of July 14 the
team was 1-9 for the season, after losing their last two games 32 and 10-5. This reminds me of our softball teams when I was an
Undergraduate, but I'm not sure if that is a tradition I'd really
want to keep up. Anyway guys, keep the faith and good luck for
the rest of the season.

A SPECIAL NOTE FROM TEE BCA PRESIDENT
I would like to express sincere thanks from all the Brothers of
Rho Alpha to Danny Kallick. He has truly shown that Phi Gamma
Delta is not for college days alone by his hard work as Purple
Legionnaire. His leadership will be sorely missed. Danny was
instrumental in bringing the chapter back from the brink of
disaster a couple of years ago and has guided it to the improved
situation that exists today. I can attest to the efforts Danny
has put into Rho Alpha by the extraordinary number of trips he
made to the chapter house to meet with the undergraduate
Brothers. Thank you Danny, from all the Brothers of Rho Alpha!!

Jon Parker
