Fiji Fables
"I returned, last October, from a three-month business trip to
John Amort,'49-380, as reported by Richard A. Koch,
('52-453),"is citizen of the year in Pendleton because of a life
time of service including being a president or board member of
all charitable organizations in Pendleton, at one time or another.
He has never turned down a request for help, and exceeded all
previous standards when called upon to head up a committee.
He is a credit to his family, his many friends, and to our fraterni
ty which takes pride in his accomplishments." John's address is

Michael W. Staropoli, '80-982, is a deputy district attor
Philip M. Brandt III,'64-187, writes, "I am a candidate for
a Master's degree in international studies at the University of
Oregon in June 1987. I continue my work (as an anthropologist)
in population control with the US AID mission in Bangladesh."
Phil and his wife, Susan, are the parents of George (14) and

Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Karl A. Malo,'74-874, Is a sales representative for Jantzen
Swimwear and Sportswear, and resides with his wife, Kerney
(Alpha Omicron Pi, OSU), at N. 15511 Fircrest Cir., Spokane,
WA 99208. They are they parents of Kelsey (4) and Kenton (1).
Karl notes,"I enjoy the annual 'Rogue River Rendezvous' fishing
trip with six other KO Fijis. We moved to Spokane last fall, and I
cover Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska for Jantzen."
Kenneth A. Middleton,'78-963, shares, "1 have been oper
ating Tradewind Charters for the past year over here in paradise. I
offer sailing, diving, and fishing trips locally and Interisland. Look
me up when any of you are over on vacation. My phone number

James A. Fort,'79-977, is a research engineer with Flow
Industries in Kent, WA. Jim resides with his wife, Billie Rae
(OCE '80), at 10032 NE 30th PL, Bellevue, WA. He comments.
South Africa. Billie spent the first six weeks with me before she

of the Seattle clan. 1 still get to see my little bro, David Thomp
son ('82-1018) — we go to the same church. He has the cutest
daughter, and she doesn't have her uncle Ringo's (Denny
Thompson, '80-983) nose...yet!" Michael and Susie reside at

Mark A. Harris,'80-991, is a pilot for Delta Air Lines and
resides with his wife. Donna (Pi Beta Phi '84, OSU), at 6865
Greenleaf Dr., N. Richland Hills, TX 76118. Mark writes, "Just
got out of the Navy in December and have been flying for Delta
since January. Donna and I now live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth
'metroplex' and really enjoy it. I have gotten to see quite a few
bros lately on layovers around the country. Anybody passing
through Dallas, let us know!"
Mark A. Reiling, '84-1059, announces, "We're expecting
our first child in mid-November. Can't wait! I'm working (farm
ing) into a partnership on our family farm (Reiling Farms, Inc.)
with my dad. We're pretty excited. Mexico was a great expe
rience for us both. Thanks to the bros in Garden Grove for
puffing us up on the way through." Mark and his wife, Jennie
(Alpha Phi '84), reside at 15485 Butteville Rd., Gervais, OR
97026.
