TWENTY-EIGHT MEN GAIN WHITE STAR
Some twenty-eight outstanding men were pledged Phi Gamma Delta during
formal rush week fall term. Under the direction of Tom Simpson, '70, and
Bobin Thomas, '71, Kappa Omicron took in the largest pledge class on the
Oregon State campus. These newcomers have quality -- average g. p. a. 3.05 -as well as quantity.
The probationers include David Hartley, John Bell, Jim Coon, Don Petty,
and Doug Richmond, from Roseburg; Mark Copeland from Leb.mon; Mike Easter,
Lake Oswego; Monte Earner, Randy Huber, and Jerry McBurney, Albany;
Jon Fulton, Roosevelt of Seattle; Bill Goeth, John Holmes, Tom Rosendahl, and
Steve Scott, Portland.
Ed Gressett, Jon Hudson, Jim North, John North, Dave Minneci, and Larry
Six, Medford; Jeff Martin, Jay Maher, and Tim Vrtiska, Corvallis; Mike Nease and
Jim Thoreson, Cottage Grove; and Bob Wisner and Dana St. Louis, Milwaukie.
We appreciate the many recommendations which we received from our alumni.
Now is the time to be thinking about rush prospects in your area planning to attend
OSU next fall--let us know about them as soon as possible.

K. O. SENDS SEVEN TO EKKLESIA
Kappa Omicron sent seven representatives to the 120th Grand Bahama
Ekklesia this summer. The chapter was placed third in the Condon Cup (most
over-all improvement) competition.
We look toward to a good shot at the Cheney Cup this year after our out
standing improvements of 1967-68.
Delegates from OSU were Larry Zagata, '70; John Hubbach, Bruce
Kannenberg, and Jerry Lofstedt, '69; and Dave Denecke, Robin Thomas, and
Ken Ross, '71.

OREGON STATE CENTENNIAL HOMECOMING SET FOR NOVEMBER 8-9
Set aside November 8-9 for attending homecoming festivities on the
Highlighting the weekend is the OSU-UCLA grid titanic; in addition, many
standing all-school alumni functions are on tap. OSU classes of '23, '28,
'58 have reunions scheduled and brother C.H. "Scram" Graham has lined
another "All-Star Revue" of alumni-undergraduate-and-friends talent.

and
up
Although plans are not yet concrete, we anticipate that the house will be
having the usual buffet dinner and "happy hour" as in the past. Cost for the
dinner will be about $1,50 per person. If you have intentions of making the
buffet, please write the house (c/o homecoming chairman) TODAY so we may
plan accordingly.
DON JOHNSON NAMED ARCHON TREASURER
Brother Donald E. Johnson (K. O. '36) was elected to the position of
Archon Treasurer at the recently held Ekklesia. Our congratulations to Don
we are mighty glad to see him gain the number-three position in the national
frate rnity.
GRADES IMPROVE AGAIN
Oregon State's Phi Gam chapter pulled a 2, 64 all-house g. p. a. spring
term to place us eleventh out of 32 fraternities on the campus. For the year,
we were in the number-twelve position. This is quite an improvement over
the 1966-67 school year which showed us as number twenty-four!
Also, we were above the all-men's and (of course) all-fraternity average
for the 1967-68 year. We intend to maintain or improve our position during
the coming school year.
FIJIS IN ATHLETICS
Back for their senior year on the football team are Steve Preece, Bill
Enyart, and Jerry Belcher; Bill Main is a junior eligibility-wise since he redshirted as a sophomore.
At press-time brother Preece was still injured and not expected back
until the Kentucky game (there) or the Arizona State game (Portland). Brother
Enyart has must smashed the all-time rushing single-game record --50 carries

for 299 yards on ONE game! The "Buff" outgained the entire Utah team in
that 24-21 victory.
Brother Belcher has been moved from halfback to defensive end where
he is currently on the first eleven. Brother Main is on the injured list, but
could be ready for the Washington game October 5.
Also playing for the Beavers are Rex Behnke and Bruce Kannenberg.
Brother Behnke is backing up Belch at defensive end, while brother Kannenberg
is playing behind John Didion (Playboy pre-season A-A) at center.
K. O. has several men who will be playing for Mike Dolby's Rook team
this fall. Dave Bartley and Jerry McBurney are both playing the fullback position
while Jack Holmes is at linebacker. Tom Rosendahl is set at end; Mark Copeland
and Randy Huber will be at guard.
FlJlS ON CAMPUS
Dale Campbell, '69, is the chairman of the homecoming queen selection
committee, while Ken Ross, '71, is in charge of the traditional noise parade.
Rick Walters is the editor of the University Engineer (at one time
called the OSU Tech Record), while Dennis Stefani is the business manager
for that publication.
Dave Denecke, '71, and Chris Drury, '70, are on the man's rally at
OSU.
Bill Graham, '70, is the president of the Military Engineers on campus.
PETE JOINS PHI GAMMA DELTA
Pete Muhlbauer, from Munich, Germany, is living with us this year.
He is a junior in engineering. Brothers Doug Matson and Bill Brandt, both
seniors, knew Pete when he was an American Field Service exchange student
at Roseburg High four years ago. The brothers saw Pete last year when they
were attending the University of Pavia (Italy), and recommended him highly
to the brothers in Corvallis. Consequently, Pete is with us this school year.
We wish Pete the best of luck.
