Armstrong Makes
Pig Dinner Big Success
This past year's Pig Dinner was held on an unseasonably warm February ninth. The
main speaker was lU's legendary Bill Armstrong. Graduates from around the country
came home to Beechwood to hear Bill speak and reminisce about college days. While
exact attendance figures aren't available, the dinner netted the undergraduate chapter an
unheard-of profit of over $700. Fortunately, the undergraduate chapter was well repre
sented as Bill delivered a very inspirational speech.
Indiana's soccer stadium/Little "Foot" track is named after the Indiana University
Foundation's most famous personality. While present undergraduates have not had the
opportunity to work closely with Mr. Armstrong,Pig Dinner illustrated why his
reputation precedes him. Mr. Armstrong's son-in-law. Jack "Bozo" Johnson and
grandson Steve "Gander" Johnson,'94, are both Zeta Fijis.

Little
500
The 1991 Little 500 seemed to be filled
with a lot of success for the Fiji Cycling
team,especially when you consider that
this team featured FIVE "Rookies";
Juniors Rob "Hix"Pruitt, Rob "Razor"
Schein, and Michael"Maverick" Cunning
ham,Sophomores Troy "Blades" Lewis
and Ed "Sleepy" Goodknight.
Most teams with this much inexperi
ence would have just settled for being able
to finish this 200-lap race, but that was
never the case with this year's team. After
qualifying in seventh position, the team
was looking for a Top Ten finish, but
ended up getting a lot more than that. In
the middle of the race, the Cutters and
Team College Life began working
together to get away from the pack. They
were joined soon by the Fiji Cycling
Team. These three teams, along with
Acacia, were able to work together and lap
the field. No other teams in the history of
the Little 500 have ever been strong
enough to lap the field in Bill Armstrong
Stadium. However,this changed late in
the race when a crash involving lapped
riders in the front of the pack took out
several teams, including the Fiji team. The
team was able to still finish the race, but
were pushed back into eighth place.
Besides an eighth place finish, the Fiji
Cycling Team had two other accomplish
ments in the form of Rookie of the Year
Awards to Rob "Hix"Pruitt and Troy
"Blades" Lewis. Next year should be even
more successful for the Fiji Cycling Team.
All five riders will be returning, as well as

Rushees enjoyed water skiing, volleyball,
and a delicious cookout to top off the
afternoon. Over thirty brothers were in
attendance,even some from neighboring
states! When all was said and done, eight
bids were given, four of which have been
signed and returned.
One thing that added tremendously to
this year's rush program was the addition
of a new computer system. Thanks to
gracious graduate donations,the Rush
parents for once again providing a
beautiful lake cottage to entertain rushees.
Chairmen were able to maintain an in

credibly organized database that could

Thanks to Rush Chairmen Ryan "Radar"
Drook, and David "Lurch" Scott, the Fijis
are once again going to host an outstand
ing fall pledge class. With combined
efforts of three rush weekends during the
spring, as well as a summer rush function
in June, a total of twenty-four bids have
been signed.
Summer rush proved to be a most
successful event. Special thanks go out to
potential rushee at the push of a button.
Not only did this eUminate the bulky and
sometimes confusing file cabinet that was
previously used, but address labels could
also be printed for easier correspondence.
Once again,Zeta is planning to hold
one last rush function this fall. If you

When a college student wonders,"Where
