The Phi Gamma Delta
Fiji and ACS to Sponsor "Relay For Life"
On November 4-5, The Frater
nity ofPhi Gamma Delta and
the American Cancer Society
will be sponsoring the third annual
"Relay For Life" at the Mississippi State
University Intramural Fields. Teams of
up to fifteen members will compete to
raise money for the fight against cancer.
The event, which spans from 6 P.M. on
Friday tmtil 6 A.M. on Saturday, re
quires that at least one member of each
team is one the track at all times. Each
team must make a contribution of ten
dollars per person. Businesses can help
ACS by becoming a corporate sponsor
for $250. Each corporate sponsor's
company logo will be placed on event
T-shirtj, literature, and banners, and
those businesses will be mentioned on
the radio broadcast during the event.
All contributions are tax deductible, and
will go directly to the American Cancer
Society. For more information, contact
Sigma Mu retained the title of being the only fraternity at IVISU to ever win the
Stephen D. Lee Award.

Homecoming 1994

coming is scheduled for Saturday, Octo
ber 22. The Bulldogs will be facing the
Phi Gamma Delta Tops On Campus
Tulane Green Wave at Scott Field at
1:30 P.M. Prior to the game. Parents
are invited to the Phi Gam house to par
take in a brunch, and the Mary McCarty
Club will also be meeting. After the
game, graduates are encouraged to
come by the House to enjoy Bar-B-Q
prepared by Jimmy Morton. For more

year. Phi Gamma Delta re
ceived the coveted Stephen D. Lee
Award. The trophy is given by Student
Life each year to the Fratermty on cam
pus who excels in five different areas:
community service, campus relations,
scholarship, sports, and campus in
volvement. According to Student Life
Director Eddie Keith, Fiji had a clean
sweep of all five categories, and added
that this was the first time that one fra
temity had won all events. Since its in
ception in 1991, the award has gone to
Phi Gamma Delta each year.

sulted in a twenty-one member fall 1994
pledge class. Eighteen members of the
pledge class were involved in formal
rush, while three pledges were held over
from the Spring of 1994. Pledge induc
tion was held at the Chapel of Memories
on August 24, 1994. The pledges in
