Norris Pig Dinner Draws Neav...
April is finally here, even if winter
has only recently left us. And April brings the
springtime events that Phi Gamms always
look forward to. Purple Garter is scheduled
to be the 27th, and the Pig Dinner is set for
the 20th. FIJI ISLE was on the 29th of
March, and was extremely successful. It was
great to see so many graduates there, both
from Rho Phi and Iota Sigma. Several other
events are set for the next few weeks. The
Rho Phi Open is set for the day after the Pig
Dinner, and although the letter says more
information will come, this will be the last
newsletter for both events that weekend.
Please get your teams of four together and
notify Chip Bradway as soon as possible.
While the work to prepare these
events is considerable, the anticipation of
them grows more each day. We are also
looking forward to the activation of 35 Fall
pledges, who have combined to be a very
productive and well-motivated pledge class.
Two new sororities are now on
campus. The Chi Omegas were recently
joined by Delta Delta Delta. The Rho Phi
Chapter has invited the Chi Omegas for a
small cookout when the weather clears. With
so very many positive and exciting things
happening both on campus and in our
chapter, it would be easy to overlook the
bad. But there are a few things holding us
back, and it would not help to ignore them.
The Rho Phi Chapter is experiencing
financial pangs. Actually, the outlook is quite
serious, resulting in brothers having to foot
the bill for many of the activities being
planned.
The difficulty lies with the amount asked for.
We need to pay our debts, yet not ask so
much as lo discourage attendance. This fine
balance is « line we have met with many
times in chapter meetings.
The Frank Norris Pig Dinner, which
will be held at the Holiday Ina at the
intersection of U.S. Highway 41 and
Interstate 70, is not exempt from the
financial burdens of the chapter. We are
asking both the undergraduate and the
graduate brothers to pay in advance both to
insure attendance and payment for the
convention room und buffet. It promises to
be an Jent meal, and the undergraduate
broth ¢ looking forward to this evening.
For myself, 1 had a wonderful time at
Homecoming this past fall when the
graduates came back to the house and told
stories. That evening was part of why I
wanted to be the Graduate Relations Chair. I
sincerely hope many of you will. come back
to T' Haute for the Pig Dinner. This would
be the pledges' first 'graduate' event, and it
would be considerably impressive if we had a
large turnout. But I do need a positive count
for the event, so please RSVP as soon as
possible.
