TAU
TALES
SUMMER 2019
PRESIDENT’S NOTE
Brothers,
It’s a great pleasure to be able to give an update on
the Tau Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta. This year we pledged
and initiated 19 new men. This included international
students, an Army Ranger veteran and many athletes. We
are very excited to see the positive impact that they will
have on our house.
Every year the Rose-Hulman chapter and ourselves
hold the Fiji Football run where we raise money for the
USO. In years past we have raised roughly $500, however,
this year we raised over $2,500 by seeking donations from
local businesses. Our chapter also raised around $800 for
breast cancer awareness by selling and delivering donuts
and hot chocolate.
During the spring semester of 2018, we earned a
chapter GPA of 2.7. In the fall semester of 2018, we raised
our GPA to a 3.2 and we are second on campus by 0.06.

The campus fraternity average was 3.1.
Lastly, our relationship with the school has greatly
improved. The previous president and I have built a great
relationship with the IFC advisor and Associate Dean of
Students, Casey Heckler. We have continually worked with
her to change our culture and become a better chapter on
campus. Our efforts to improve have shown as we were just
awarded the Fraternity Chapter of Excellence. This award
has not been won by our chapter in quite a few years, so it
was nice to see all our efforts come to fruition.
In conclusion, hopefully it is evident that we are
doing well at the Tau Chapter. We have continued to make
improvements each semester and we hope to stay on this
upward trend.
Fraternally,
Dylon Neff

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A BCA ADVISOR
As a BCA Advisor, you will work with other fellow graduate brothers on the Board of Chapter Advisors to guide, coach,
and advise the Cabinet Officers and key Committee Chairmen of the Tau Chapter at Hanover. Once per month, the BCA
will meet to update each other on chapter events, successes, and issues, but more importantly, to make sure their coaching
strategies and messages are unified and aligned. You will work with and support an undergraduate chapter leader. You
communicate regularly each month to review goals, discuss progress and successes, and work through road blocks and
bottlenecks. This is where the most important and rewarding work is done.

\r\nROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A BCA ADVISOR CONTINUED
As a BCA Advisor, you’d also attend Graduate Brother functions and major chapter events when possible, as well as help
recruit the support and involvement of other Graduate Brothers. This would include things like Pig Dinner, Graduate
Nights during Rush, Golf Outings, Philanthropic events, Homecoming, Membership Developments, and more.
Expectations and Regular Time Commitments
1. Touch base in person or by phone 1-2 times per month with the undergraduate brother you advise and support.
(Approx. 1-2 hours per month)
2. Participate in monthly BCA meeting. (Approx. 1 hour per month)
3. Attend at least 1 chapter meeting each semester. (Approx. 1-2 hours per semester)
4. Attend the annual summer BCA/Cabinet Retreat. (All-day event once per year)
5. Attend major Graduate functions such as Pig Dinner. (Times will vary)
1 Year Commitment:
We ask that advisors commit to serving in their role for at least 1 year. After that year, we’ll discuss if you want to continue
serving on the BCA or if you would rather part ways – which is totally fine. We appreciate your service to the fraternity
whether it’s for 1 year or 10 years!
