The Pine Tree Fiji is hoping to do things alittle differenUy this year than in the past. This
semester we hope to put out two FTP newsletters: one small one now, and abigger, more in-depth
paper in the beginning of December.
To produce abetter PTE in December, we need the help of the Graduate Brothers. The
Brothers here contribute agreat deal to the paper to let you, the Grads, know what's going on at the
Castle. In return, we would like to hear from you to let us know what is going on in your lives.
Ihope you enjoy this FTP. Please let me know of any ideas or suggestions you may have.

Brothers,
I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to spend last semester studying at the Ecole
Superieure Des Affairs in Grenoble, France. The University, located in the French Alps, is amajor
research center for science and technology in Western Europe. I was one offour students from U-
Maine selected to concentrate my studies on the rapidly emerging arena of International Business.
During my six months in Europe I was able to travel extensively while learning about the
economic, political and industrial policies and practices ofvarious European Countries. We spent
much ofour class time discussing the Economic Union and Common Market that Europe will be
forming in 1992. It was fascinating to learn the intricacies ofinternational financial networks and
how interrelated business is in this day and age. We were able to meet with business leaders from
various industries while touring factories in France, Italy, and Switzerland.
Upon graduation, I plan to work for an American firm located in Europe or continue my
education at the graduate level atone of the international business schools. I am encouraging all the
members of the house to take advantage of similiar study abroad so FUI can continue to produce men
of Knowledge and Character.
This was an outstanding opportunity for me to leam about the world, and about myself. I'm
very excited about returning to U-Maine, and most of that excitement is due to the strong brother
hood of Omega Mu.

House Update
Brothers,
The house has been improving constantly, whether in the upkeep of the Castle or the strong
Brotherhood. Over this past summer there were some repairs done to the house, coming from contri
butions from our Housing Corporation. There was brick work done in the front ofthe house and
some repairs to our back stairs. For those who haven't heard, last semester we had new showers
installed in the bathroom and anew carpet was put in the upstairs hallway and foyer stairs. With the
help of BCA and Housing Corporation we are looking forward to more repairs done to the house due
to the fundraiser (Headed by Jeff Stewart '84) now in effect.

Financial Report
Brothers,
Financially our house is on good standing. In our past fiscal yearrunning from July '89 to
June '90 our revenue was $116,921.13 and our expenses for that same year totalled $114,785.95. In
every department we were under budget.
This semester we have a brotherhood of 46 fine young men with 31 of them living in the
house. Everyone has either paid their house bill in full or is on a payment plan. In the past the house
has had trouble collecting all of the house bills, but the brothers now are much more responsible in
the payment of their financial obligations.
We are looking forward to a good year financially, and we hope you come up to see the
Castle's progress.
Fratemally,
Todd Marshall

\r\nSocial
Social life at Omega Mu is as always a major topic of discussion. We have recently been
released from the probationary status under which we were placed due to a party which occurred last
fall. We have completed all the tasks that the University has asked us to do, and are on good stand
ingin the University's eyes. Even though we are offprobation, we can't letour guard down. The
university has gotten even tougher with the rules that it sets down for the Greek system. On a lighter
note, we areplanning a University-catered party for Homecoming, and Pig Dinner plans are in the
makings at this very minute. We look forward to seeing all PHI GAMS at Homecoming!

Remember
From its earliest beginnings. PhiGamma Delta has always been; and will continue to be a shaper of
men. If we pause for a moment and look backin time to remember "our closest brothers, our finest
hours, and our fondest memories," a happy smile, or perhaps a tear or two begins to form. During
those times, we were being formed in Phi Gamma Delta's image; an image of beauty and wonder,
one that will never die. As members of Phi Gamma Delta, we owe a little something to her; we are
still a part of her. Stop. Close your eyes and think back in time. What we are today, whether King
or Comedian, she played a meaningful part as shaper of ourcharacters. She was always
there
She is still here
